Summary

Leo Ware may be young, but he knows what he wants. And what he wants is Will Highland. Snarky, sophisticated, fiercely opinionated Will Highland, who burst into Leo's unremarkable life like a supernova...and then was gone just as quickly.

For the past miserable year, Leo hasn't been able to stop thinking about the powerful connection he and Will shared. So, when Leo moves to New York for college, he sweeps back into Will's life, hopeful that they can pick up where they left off. What begins as a unique friendship soon burns with chemistry they can't deny...though Will certainly tries.

But Leo longs for more than friendship and hot sex. A romantic to his core, Leo wants passion, love, commitment - everything Will isn't interested in giving. Will thinks romance is a cheesy fairy tale and love is overrated. He likes his space and he's happy with things just the way they are, thank you very much. Or is he? Because as he and Leo get more and more tangled up in each other's lives, Will begins to act like maybe love is something he could feel after all.

Leo deserves all the stars

Loved this story and loved Leo's return. He's as adorable and sweet as ever.

Will isn't perfect. Will is a late 20s/early 30s gay man with trauma and years of dealing with it poorly. I think we all knew this from book 1. We get a glimpse of this here but it's masked under bravado and pretty privilege.

It's a sweet book with a more realistic take on character development and unpacking decades old behaviour.

Simply Breathtaking!

What did you like most about Where We Left Off?

THE START THE MIDDLE AND THE END LOL. I loved everything,

Who was your favorite character and why?

LEO hands down 100%. He is just kind, honest to God happy go lucky person, he sees the best in people, he loves without limits and goes for what he wants.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

God there were so many, probably when Leo flies to see Will and they spend time together. Leo does this big gesture to come to Will's desperate side and you can see Will's defences start to crumble, you can start to understand the mystery he is, the person behind the facade.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me cry, oh God so many times. Leo suffered emotionally so much throughout the story, I think we have all had our share of disappointments and heart aches and I wanted to hug him and tell him all will be well LOL, but also made me angry, Will drove me bonkers!.

Any additional comments?

Spencer Goss. PLEASE NEVER STOP DOING THIS! You were born to act and these characters need you, the reader community needs you. You were MAGNIFICENT!.

3 out of 3 for Spencer.......

***Original Review dated 24/3/17***

Well, my wish came true and Spencer Goss narrated the audio book. How did he do?? Read on.....

This is going to be a gushing review, so I make my apologies now in case you have need of tissues [or a bucket]. All the stars….and more, in fact even the one called ‘The Shire’….

A really well-written story from Roan, and as seems to be the norm with her work, Spencer puts his heart and soul into the narration…just as he did with Out of Nowhere and Rhys Ford’s Fish Stick Fridays. For me, he has elevated this story from merely really good up a couple of levels to…let’s say sublime or magnificent, as either works in my opinion. Narrated solely from young and impressionable Leo’s POV, wearing his rose-coloured glasses [and come on, who didn’t love Leo??], I freely admit there were several times when my eyes welled up just from listening to the quavering emotion in Spencer’s voice. The pacing, the characterisations….just everything was excellent.

Spencer treats the words given to him by the author with the utmost respect….with as much TLC as if he himself had written them, wringing out every last drop of emotional intensity whether it be anger, sadness or happiness AND as usual, I was totally blown away by his mad narrating skills **fangirling moment**. His narrating is a kind of art form IMHO; he’s just so involved, interested and invested in the story and its characters, he doesn’t appear to treat the narration as just another job…and that care shows, in every word he utters. He doesn’t race through things, he seems methodical [and slow to use his own word], but I’d far rather listen to someone who truly cares about a story than not, and that is why I’ll probably buy everything he narrates within reason [even I have my limits with some authors ;)]….he’s just THAT good!!

I was much kinder to Will’s character in my review of the story than some other readers, and I loved Spencer’s interpretation of him too. Yes, it looked as though Will was supposed to be the story’s token bad guy, and had been sending out mixed signals to Leo [he SO had], BUT he was a private person, in way over his head, and had never truly expected anyone to ‘get’ him in return. He was also fed up of people just wanting him for his looks alone. Yes, Leo had known from the start that a relationship wasn’t on the cards; Will had warned him and made it perfectly clear that he would carry on with his life in his own way, and Leo had seemed to accept it then….but the heart wants what it wants 💜, and love makes fools of us all at some stage. So yes, even though I ‘got’ Will, I didn’t like the way he did things sometimes. The last chapter however was a revelation and a real ‘light bulb’ moment 💡, and to declare his love for Leo by shouting it loudly [and somewhat angrily it has to be said], witnessed by a small crowd of onlookers in Central Park was poetic justice I thought, and left me with a big smile on my face and tears in my eyes.

Loved the first two books but this one was terrible

First two books were really good and I enjoyed them a lot. This one however was as boring as it can get. Story about a nice guy trying to win over an as..ole and begging him for them to be together. Will is such a poor guy!!! He is beautiful and his life is so miserable because of that! Seriously! Performance 5 stars. The story zero!

A personal favourite

The first book to this series was actually the first audible I ever listened to and it was fantastic. The rest of the series did not let me down and it ended with my favourite of them all.

I've listened to this book 2 or 3 times over already, I love it that much. The character development, struggle to adapt and love - it was really enjoyable.

Some parts had me on the verge of tears and the end made me the happiest person in the world.

If you're on the fence, buy the book - you'll enjoy it.

OMG Brilliant

Wasn't sure at first about downloading this novel first because Leo was so young and Will appeared like a jerk but wow what a fantastic story Leo is such a kind and a romantic person Will is just the opposite wanting no ties my heart went out to to Leo this story is so full of angst made me cry so much. But as the story unfolds you realise the reason that Will is the way he is as he's suffered so much trauma in his childhood there was times I really wanted to kick Will because of his callous behavior towards Leo. Please Roan do more of these Trigology absouluty Fantastic. Spencer Goss is magnificent as the narror Bravo this series is highly recommended.
