Summary

Annie Lyncroft knew her scheme was outrageous. She'd come to the elegant penthouse to meet Oliver Rain, the richest and possibly the most dangerous man in the Pacific Northwest. Annie needed this sensual, secretive corporate maverick for what she was about to propose. Marriage! With her brother Danny missing after a mysterious plane crash, Annie is struggling to protect his hot electronics company from the sharks who think he's not coming back.

But fanciful, ethical Annie - who usually runs a bizarre bric-a-brac shop knows Danny's alive, and she's determined to keep his company safe by putting his biggest investor at the helm. When Oliver actually says yes to the marriage of convenience, Annie dreamily envisions a few platonic weeks of helping him become a sensitive New Age guy. Oliver has a different plan; his cold, gorgeous eyes have been watching Annie, and he sees his chance to seduce the beautiful schemer.

Love is the wild card destined to teach these two strong-willed opposites a lesson: icy control might run the business world, but all hell is about to break loose in the passionate territory of the heart.

Good story

There were lots of twists and turns in the story. The narrator was not my favourite but she was ok.

Great Listen

I really enjoyed this book such a refreshing change from all of the crime novels I usually listen to. Amy McFadden was the perfect narrator.

Oh my gosh sooooo cute and funny 🤩🤩🤩

Amazing book with such an amazing plot line and wonderful characters. Their banter kept me smiling throughout and the story was exciting sweet and beautiful. No guessing the culprit which is a good story right there. Great narration too makes this a top notch read.

Simply amazing

There is nothing I did not like about this book, the storyline was amazing, it moved at a good pace without any dull moments.
Words cannot do justice to it, you simply have to listen to it.

Surprisingly enjoyable

Initially I found Annie’s character quite jarring, but decided she balanced out Oliver’s controlling nature.

Her observations were tedious at times and I wondered whether your average man would tolerate the multiple sermons/advice/lectures or her somewhat pushy personality.

The story itself was entertaining and I had to listen till the end.

Not sure how to feel about this one

Sometimes it felt really forced and unrealistic I would never say things characters said or never think the way they did. I felt like giving up on it a time or two. Finally I finished the book, and it all kinda came togerher in the end, but I'm still not convinced I would recommend it. FMC feeling so entitled to change MMC without a second thought is not something I would celebrate and congratulate the way this book makes out to suggest I should do. I don't even think its okay the way these topics were handled most of the times in the book. On the other hand, the author really tried to provide a good read, there is a bit of kinda weird romance, suspence, and a HEA.

Worst main character

The female lead was written as naive, trustful and innocent, but was really anything but! She sat on a moral high horse, preaching like her opinions, views and reasons were the only correct and decent ones.

She decided that the male lead lacked in social and familial relation skills so she took it upon herself to guide and teach, but mostly berate, him in every conversations they had with each other.

The male lead had the patience of a saint. He was the only reasonable character in this book. Except for when it came to his attraction to the FL.

I kept waiting for the story to knock her back down to earth, but it never happened. She had no character growth at all. Basically a Mary Sue.
