Inspiring introduction
Beautiful introduction that primes and inspires the reader to get stuck into Blake's work. Listens like a conversation in the pub with the author. John Higgs communicates deep thoughts in an elegantly readable manner. As with all his books, the way he links things together and contextualises his thought is beautiful.

Getting 'woke'.
I loved John Higgs books, but less so these days as he's become a bit of a woke soldier.
It's still interesting, but just not nearly as much as previous books.
