About this listen
A moving tale of second chances and creating a life worth living from Number One bestselling author, Danielle Steel.
Charlie Vincent feels trapped in his treadmill of a life. He's doing a job he doesn't want to do, in a marriage where the romance died many years ago. All that interests his wife Isabelle is his money to fund her extravagant lifestyle. Their children have left home and there is nothing for him to look forward to.
One evening on the road to their chateau, Charlie's car veers off the road, down a cliff and into the sea. The accident should've killed him but somehow he escapes the vehicle and finds the strength to climb to safety. The area is remote but in the growing darkness he sees a cottage in the woods. Aude, an artist who is escaping her own demons, welcomes him in and this fateful meeting will change both of their lives forever…

Sometimes you just need this type of audiobook to keep you entertained
I’ve listened to over 70 Danielle Steel books, if you’re a fan like me then you’ll know that she is prolific, currently writing approximately five novels a year. Her stories are somewhat similar and formulaic. I find some very poor and some absolute classic gems that despite being far fetched in places, deliver a captivating plot and characters you can loathe and those who bring out empathy and loyalty. So, after saying all of that, this one is one that I couldn’t put down, it was interesting and well formed, just the right length for finishing in a day. There are scenes of graphic abuse in parts so it won’t be for everyone. But, I was glad to listen to this book when I needed something to get absorbed in on a rainy Sunday. The narrator is also a regular DS reader and he did a great job on this one.

Good story
I love Danielle's novels. This wasn't my favourite, as the plot seemed to get crazy at times, but the positive message was there, and some interesting characters. Isabelle and Stephanie were actually pretty amusing, being such unashamed gold diggers. They made Caroline Bingley seem subtle. 🤣

Disappointing
The story was very repetitive and could have been told in half the time. Not a patch on the old Danielle Steel.

Love this author but not this book.
I am a very big fan of this author but this one was not for me. Just found the story and characters hard to connect with. The title made it sound really exciting but dispite my best effort just could not get into it.

Very disappointing, most unlike Danielle Steel
Felt like someone found an old abandoned manuscript and decided to finish it.. Characters and plot not credible and it was very predictable.. A real shame.
Final straw, not the best narrator for this one.!Sorry!
