About this listen

Wohali is the story of a seven year old Cherokee boy living in the 1600s. He's going to show you what it was like to be an Indian in the 17th century. Wohali lives with his family in the Smokey Mountains in what is now North Carolina. He's going to show the listener his life and what he thinks about the world around them. He will explain to you about their clans and the village he lives in, and why they were so successful surviving in the mountains.

The Wohali Book Series will follow Wohali and his family and friends, as he grows into the warrior he is destined to become.

A book filled with adventure and valuable lessons!

The is a beautifully crafted and entertaining book for children. I choose this book because of the eloquent ancient teaching of the native American Indians. The book has many fun adventures of leadership, respect and the importance of community. The language is easy for kids to understand and the characters act as wonderful gateway into a more harmonious and  inspiring way of life and culture

What a look into a beautiful life!

I had so much joy listening to this book. I felt so connected with wohali and his experience.

I am so grateful that this will be a series following him and his family as he grows into a warrior. I appreciate the insight into this lifestyle they were ale to live and absolutely thrive!

My favorite thing about this book while there are a lot, is that the story is told through the eyes of a child. The innocnece is captivating and reminds me how precious life's experiences are.

Great book for kids and young adults

I love that this book is available, there should definitely be more like this. I live, work and play in the unceded territory of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc people in the interior of British Columbia. Here the Indigenous people are a big part of our culture and city but in the larger more populated cities I feel their population is overlooked. A book like this helps spread the story and bridge the gaps in cultures.

This was entertaining and enjoyable to listen to and the story telling was fantastic as you might expect from a First Nations author. Told through the eyes of a child this book is relatable and easy to share with your kids.

Very Nice and Entertaining!

If you want to learn more about the life of the Cherokees and how they lived in the 17th century, then you need to listen to this audiobook. The author does a great job depicting where and how the Cherokees lived. Through the eyes of a young boy, Wohali, who was from the Anawea tribe, the listener can learn about the structure of a tribe, the different rules and laws, and the way the Cherokees lived. The narration sounds nice and flows well with the author’s message. Amazing content. Highly recommended audiobook!

Great Resource and Insight

I highly recommend this audiobook! The author has written a wonderful story that enables a new generation to learn and interact with Native American culture. Adults who read this to their children will also learn and enjoy the nuances of native American lives. This is a truly great listen and wonderful way to learn about different cultures, practices, daily routines and so much more. This is a must listen.

A wonderful story AND learning tool for children!

The story of Wohali and his family is a great way to teach young children about Native American culture. Adults will also find it interesting as they read to younger children... there are descriptions of daily crafts such as basket weaving, how the tribe hierarchy works, and even how they tell time! learning the daily routines of the Cherokee tribe is very interesting, and it's a great way to teach children about diversity and history as well. There is a sequel to this book; I can't wait to read it! A great addition to any grammar school library as well.

a good read

It's a very enjoyable hour listing to the story, from the time he was still a young warrior, learning to swim, to the time he traveled to home. The most interesting part to me was the canoe trip.

Fascinating and entertaining!

I was captivated by the story. The protagonist, Wohali, is a young Native American man from the Anawea tribe whose family lives in the mountains in North Carolina. Throughout the story, we learn about his family and his tribe. I found it fascinating to learn about their two-party system: the war party and the peace party. Members of the peace party or white party are the medicine man. They are not allowed to kill anything, even a bug, in their lifetime. The book is filled with interesting details about the Anawea culture, such as their methods of telling time and the New Moon Festival, which is a celebration of the earth's creation. Wohali Young Warrior is an engaging tale that offers readers a glimpse into the culture of the Anawea tribe. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking a captivating story of adventure and culture.

Story of An Individual

It is an amazing book in which the story revolves around a protagonist named Wohail. He has shared his experience of life in this book to let the world know about how one survives in any society and what sort of challenges a person can face. As, Wohail was just 7 years old, I think this book is a source of encouragement for youth.

It is a good recommendation for teens specially to know about daily life adventures which we need to face in a better way.
