Summary
In Woke, Titania McGrath demonstrates how everybody can play their part in the pursuit of social justice. As a millennial icon on the forefront of online activism, Titania is uniquely placed to guide her listeners through the often bewildering array of terminology and concepts that constitute 21st-century 'wokeness'. These new ideas often leave the general public bemused, particularly if they don't read the Guardian.
Being woke is actually much easier than people think. As Titania demonstrates, anyone can be an activist. By simply adding a rainbow flag to your Facebook profile, or calling out an elderly person who doesn't understand what 'nonbinary' means, you can change the world for the better. Indeed, social media has now made it possible to show how virtuous you are without having to do anything at all.
Timely and indispensable, Titania's step-by-step guide will help you to become the woke person you need to be in an increasingly progressive world. In a non-patronising manner, Titania will explain why you are wrong about everything and how to become more like her.

A magnificent work of satire
A powerful parody of the woke phenomenon. Clever, insightful and genuinely funny throughout. Also, the narrator does a fine job - this is one of those books which needs to be performed in a particular style and Alice Marshall nails it.

Spectacular satire
A tour de force by Ms McGrath, as she calls to attention the staggering internal inconsistencies of the woke narrative with brilliant wit and knowledge of the subject.

SOH required.
This book had me laughing out loud in public. As witty as woke, it touched on many of societies sensitivities in exactly the right manner. Nicely done!

Laughed and laughed then uh oh.......
......Reality isn't really that far from this ridiculousness.
Avoid if you are Woke, you won't find it funny because remember only the fascist patriarchy find humour funny so if you are laughing you are a fascist.

A good chuckle, but laid on a bit too thick
The narration is perfect. The poetry excruciating. Occasionally drifted too far into farce, even considering the subject matter.

Excellent
Excruciatingly compulsive listening. The author of this horrific monologue is a prodigiously talented satirist. Miss Marshall is disquietingly convincing in her role as Titania.

Worryingly true
Perfectly encapsulates those Woke views which are on the ascendancy and gaining dominance in so many areas of modern society. Extremely funny but worryingly true. The slam poetry is spot on and reminds me of those awful verses of Kate Tempest.

Needs a tv series
Passed the six-laugh test for me during the five minute preview, and is just full of brilliant, pseudo-progressive lines like "He-Man was at least progressive enough to announce his pronouns." She's a modern-day Nathan Barley.
It's made me want to be less judgemental, and ironically, since it takes the mickey out of her mercilessly, it got me thinking about my review of a Laurie Penny novella, which I dismissed entirely because of its ageism and other problematic elements.
Much as I enjoyed this book, though, half of the joke is missing, and that's the maniacal right-wingers on Twitter who take the bait and start ranting and raving at Titania. She cuts both ways but we only see one side of it here.
