About this listen
An Age of Sigmar Audiobook
Only the kill soothes the storm in my soul. Only the kill proves I am the daughter Sigmar made me to be.
LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE
Follow Sigmar’s Prime Huntress, Yndrasta, as she stalks her prey through the treacherous Realm of Ghur. Can she find and slay this creature, or will she discover a more dangerous monster in her own reflection?
THE STORY
The nomadic sled-city of Riika-Min glides endlessly along the icy tundra of Ghur, its denizens’ existence entwined with the rhythm of the realm. But something is disrupting the balance of the Realm of Beasts, and when a kraken suddenly attacks, Sigmar sends his master tracker, Yndrasta, the Celestial Spear, to hunt it down.
In Riika-Min, Yndrasta meets Njda, trying to guide her people to safety. Njda is at once fearful and in awe of the golden-clad warrior from the sky, and soon learns how dangerous it can be to get between a hunter and her quarry – because for all her fearsome beauty, Yndrasta is just as deadly as the beast they seek.
As they close in on their target, Njda must teach Yndrasta the ways of the Realm of Beasts, and she soon finds herself wondering who the real monster is – the leviathan lurking in the deep, or the Celestial Spear sent down from the heavens?

Narrator was excellent, but the story was abit meh the first 2/3rd of the book just did not grab me, it got better towards the end but could have been a shorter story.

A great look into life in Ghur.
The fact that Yndrasta doesn't really get fully involved in the story until later on may upset some, but it's a really fascinating look at the difficulty of life in the realm of beasts, with several well drawn characters who are excellently performed by the narrator.

Confusing start but great once it gets going
I struggled early on to picture what was happening in chapter 2 due to the heavy use of in-universe terminology (and not just regular AoS terminology). Once I realised a 'sledgemanse' was a giant city being pulled like a sled I managed to follow along and thoroughly enjoyed this story. I have the 3rd edition AoS cover on my wall and now I can reflect back on this story all the time!

An ok read.
Good world building of the snowy peaks of ghur and the story on hunting the kraken.
Was really looking forward to this book as I love yndrasta. But personally it was a bit shallow.
Loved hearing her past but the parts of the book with her in the main plot was great! Struggling whet her duty and doing the right thing 👌🏻
But she was rarely in the book. Needed more of her considering her name is on the book yndrasta.
Didn’t really care for the characters but was forced too because they take up 70% of the book.
Love Noah’s work like “godeater son” but this one was just a bit of a slog to read.
Wish there was more of yndrasta.

Takes a while to get going, but finishes strong
Less action-packed than some Warhammer books, but a nice change of pace. It’s especially welcome to get insight into people and culture outside of those we normally see.

another good entry with a great narrator
This story serves as a strong introduction for yndrasta even if she is not the main focus of the story. the book actually focused on a nomadic tribe member and their journey to safety through ghur. yndrasta serves to show how the mortals see sigmar and is followers. the author noan is great at showing this darker side to sigmar and those skills do show through with a great look at the weight of mortal life's in the eyes of the stormcast.
the narrator was incredible. true skill at making the different characters come to life. it was a joy to listen too. truely hope to see them back again.

Not a Stormcast novel (in a good way)
Loved both Yndrasta and the human main characters. A bit slower pacing and performance that might not do it for everyone, but the representation of the Sámi-like civilization was top notch.

Slow but interesting!
The story paces too slowly, with the Line it Will takebeeing apparent pretty early on. But, When the action is there, it’s good - and the characters are fairly well written.

Very slow and dull story
Sadly a Very slow and dull story, has to force myself through it in the end. Voice acting was fine though.

lack of actual focus on the stormcast
expected a story following yndrasta instead it was about a random tribe, granted the stuff about the tribe was greatly written but that was not why i bought the audio
