    Nov 15 2024

Well, this has been rather rewarding: a lesser known story has proved to have all sorts of interesting elements. And there's been some Patreon feedback too, so before embarking on the final desperate venture the listeners provide some interesting insights. This final episode has it all - new characters, some interesting plot developments, and a bit of philsophy Who-style. But thanks to guest Steve Lyons (Doctor Who audio and book writer extraordonaire) there's even room for, ahem, a sting in the tale...

Oh, a rare thing - where the episode title is the cliffhanger (yes, the Second Elder is kidnapped too but that really happened last week). There's a vitally iomportant moment in this humble story, as noticed by special guest Steve Lyons. Toby however, disappears down too many actor related rabbit holes to notice because he is an idiot. Still, there's plenty to say about the story even at this late stage, which just goes to show that even the less celebrated adventures are well worth visiting every now and then.

  • Indefinable Magic 33 - Halloween Special: Behind the Sofa
    Nov 1 2024

A topical podcast! Blimey! As it is Halloween why not have a little think about why Doctor Who is scary, and why that is comehow acceptable for children. What is it about us that has a need to be frightened, and why does this siully show have such a repuation for scares? Happy Halloween - hopefully this podcast is a treat rather that a trick.

Warm, insightful, fun

This is a wonderful podcast, and one of my go to comforts. Toby is all at once a polymath in the Whoniverse but also a very down to earth and non-condecending voice in the community. It's a podcast full of heart, rock hard knowledge and charming befuddlemant. In an increasingly dull and hermoginised world its very much a happy time and place.

Positively informative

It’s so refreshing to hear a Doctor Who podcast which accentuates the positive rather than descending into moaning.
Not only that, but Toby is such a font of knowledge, telling you everything you could ever possibly want to know and maybe a few things you never knew you wanted to know. Even when you goes off topic, there’s a charm to him that makes you enjoy the tangents all the more.
Perfect listening to make you fall in love with the programme all over again.

Forensic and Funny

I thought I knew a lot about classic Doctor Who but Toby Hadoke is in another league. His story reviews are excellent but it's the stand alone podcasts looking at one random aspect or theme in the show which at their best are sublime, especially his reminiscences of his childhood fandom. Maybe not a podcast for the casual viewer, but if think you know all about the whoniverse, think again, and enjoy. Happy times and places indeed.
