  • Summary

  • The Alaska Ranger fishing trawler, jokingly referred to by the crew as the “Danger Ranger,” steams off toward a school of mackerel in the Bering Sea. Kenny Smith and 46 others are onboard the beat up, rusty boat, hoping to make up for a disappointing winter fishing season. But the trawler lives up to its nickname when an engineer discovers out-of-control flooding below deck.

Powerful and fascinating

This is one of the best podcasts that I have heard in years. Well-written and compelling to listen to. I was really struck by the bravery and heroism of all concerned

Authentic voices, gripping tale.

Brilliant account from a world of Alaskan fishing which I knew nothing about. It is a hard and terrifying world and the men who work in it are extraordinarily tough. They give the story in their own words - authentic voices rarely heard in the media. With some great sound effects I really felt like I was there.

I was hooked

A true story from eyewitnesses and survivors, worth your time. Its great to hear from the mouths of the people there, not overly dramatised. Good music too.
