About this listen

Joe Marler used to hate people, but then he met Tom Fordyce, and a load of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, and a podcast was born that changed his mind forever. It might just change your life too. Because everyone is interesting if you ask the right questions. And this is a show about all the weird and wonderful things people do. Together, Joe and Tom meet astronauts, teachers, marine biologists, cheesemakers, prison guards and everyone in between. Along the way, they’ve learned things that have blown their minds, heard stories that have made them laugh until it hurts, and – well, felt a whole lot better about the world around them and the people that fill it. • Pub in the Park London: What happened when we forced Joe onto a ferris wheel?
    Jun 19 2025
We've gone behind the scenes at Pub in the Park London, to find out who deals with backstage divas, how bags of litter get filled at a festival, and who is in charge of the power / what happens if it goes wrong. We also dragged Joe onto a ferris wheel against his will. Plus, there is a cameo from Things People Do fan favourite... Daisy's mum. Because all good festivals should include your mother-in-law. ☀️There are two more Pub in the Park festivals this summer - tickets here ☀️ Thriva are offering Things People Do listeners 20% off your first blood test. As a regular listener and a cremation technician, I found this episode fascinating. I know a few funeral directors and they're full of good stories. Cremations usually happen around 800c - 1000c though (sometimes higher or lower), not 400c. but otherwise he hit the nail on the head with that side too.

Fascinating even though I'm in the industry

I'm a big Quins and Joe Marler fan anyway but this is like the icing on the cake with cherries, sprinklies, chocolate buttons and smarties.
Insightful, honest and hilarious interviewing. Cannot recommend enough

You should have the opportunity to give ten stars and I would add loads of hearts but my laptop doesn't have that function :-)

Joe is my idol and the one that made me want to play rugby and it is so fun listening to him on a podcast

Joe is the goat

As a Springbok supporter I remember Joe Marler as a foul-mouthed, feisty, cocky and persistent character, always winding players up, full of drama and spending more time chatting to the ref then he ever did scrumming, so I am not sure why I even pressed the play button; I blame the heat.

However, it turns out that these are actually excellent traits for a podcaster.

The hosts are witty, smart, engaging and genuinely curious to find out about their guests, and it kind of feels like you're sitting with them at the bar listening to some person's wild story about what they do all day. Really brilliant stuff lads, respect.

Love this podcast which wasn't skewed by my respect for this supreme player and him being a wonderful human.
My wife who was unfamiliar with the host was also laughing and smiling all the way with me.
Cannot recommend enough.

Hilarious look at life through a rugby legend
