We Can Do Hard Things

By: Glennon Doyle and Audacy
  • Summary

  • Life is freaking hard. We are all doing hard things every single day – things like loving and losing; caring for children and parents; forging and ending friendships; battling addiction, illness, and loneliness; struggling in our jobs, our marriages, and our divorces; setting boundaries; and fighting for equality, purpose, freedom, joy, and peace. On We Can Do Hard Things, Glennon Doyle, author of UNTAMED; her wife Abby Wambach; and her sister Amanda Doyle do the only thing they’ve found that has ever made life easier: Drop the fake and talk honestly about the hard things including sex, gender, parenting, blended families, bodies, anxiety, addiction, justice, boundaries, fun, quitting, overwhelm . . . all of it. We laugh and cry and help each other carry the hard so we can all live a little bit lighter and braver, free-er, less alone.

  • Gloria Steinem: Laughing Our Way to Liberation (Best Of)
    Mar 9 2025
GLORIA STEINEM – who dedicates her life to ensuring we know that we are not broken, but were born into a system intended to break us – lives in the DNA of millions who are giving birth to movements or to themselves. She reminds us why there’s nothing more radical than telling the truth of our lives, and listening to the truth of others’ lives. She reminds us that leaving our lives unlived is no badge of honor. She reminds us of the thirst-quenching, life-giving, revolutionary power of laughter. She reminds us of the three different kinds of laughter, and that we can do hard things – like laugh our way to liberation. About Gloria: Gloria Steinem is a writer, lecturer, political activist, and feminist organizer. She has spent decades traveling in this and other countries as an organizer and lecturer and is a frequent media spokeswoman on issues of equality. She is particularly interested in the shared origins of sex and race caste systems, gender roles and child abuse as roots of violence, non-violent conflict resolution, the cultures of Indigenous Peoples, and organizing across boundaries for peace and justice. No words

I found this podcast by chance as I was looking for 'Untamed' (which I'm listening to at the moment and love just as much as the podcast). I usually binge listen to 4 to 6 episodes while at work, then take some time to recharge the batteries and process. I love the dynamic between Glennon, Amanda and Abby. They have become great companions while I weed away in the garden I tend to. The episodes make me sme, laugh, cry, feel empowered and so very heavy and helpless sometimes. Glennon's work is one of the important ones in this journey of finding myself that I'm currently on. I hope they will carry on for a while because I'm not yet ready for them to leave. I like it and I learn a lot from this and am grateful that it exists.

Honest, beautiful and hopeful.

So many of Glennon's podcast episodes have felt like a rescue light in a storm. If this one had been about when my children were little it would've been just that for me. I still got a lot from the episode having older children now. Lots of important reminders and reassuring advice. I'm so grateful for the things she shares. ♥️

Favourite podcast, hands down!

I regularly listen to this podcast and it always makes me feel like I'm listening to a deeply felt conversation with girlfriends. I learn so much while listening and also find myself laughing out loud. The combination of Sister's, Glennon's and Abby's profound knowledge, vulnerability, and light heartedness is a rare one indeed.

just taps in to your heart and soul

first read the book, fucking awesome, then felt desperate like I needed more and found the pod casts. thank the lord. to hear women speaking so openly and honestly about their experiences frankly, relaxes your mind to your own thoughts and feelings they touch on so many different subjects. it could apply to anybody from any walk of life. it might be just me and my personality type but I really tapped into this kind of conversation it's true. it's real. it's pure. it's messy, dirty and raw It's just life and so fucking relatable, I must just add it is also beautiful and fulfilling and enriching in every way.
