Durch diesen Gottesdiener bekommt er Bruchstücke religiös-kirchlicher Standard-Vorgänge vermittelt, mit denen er eigentlich weder etwas anzufangen noch nützlich einzuordnen weiß. Als dieser Priester stirbt, nimmt der als Ich-Erzähler auftretende Junge ebenfalls an dem Gedächtnistreffen für den Verstorbenen teil, bei dem die Begräbniskosten geklärt und Gedenkworte ausgetauscht werden.
