The last semester of classes for Sophie Briggs at The School of Roots and Vines is racing to the end. A confrontation and battle with the Serpent, Azdaja, is fast approaching. The legendary Thicket Hall is dying and no matter what the Defenders do, they can only slow the ancient tree's death, not stop it. Could its end lead to a new beginning?

A battle is won but the challenges for Winland Underwood and the residents of East Calico Rock have just begun. Can the old Fixer's daughter keep the hidden magicals safe? It's not easy relocating to a ghost town in Arkansas. It's even harder when the city sits on top of a forgotten underground lair. But even that can be handled as long as the town remains a secret. A magical gem is discovered by the teens that can give them everything they desire. That can't be a bad thing, right? For a city that's trying to stay hidden, it can be.

Norah tries to get to the set to locate Frondle but is barred at the gate and given an unceremonious exit. Someone doesn't want her getting too close. Good thing she's not the only one trying. You knew our favorite witch had more than one plan. Will Cleo get in and get the answers? Is there something sinister going on with the movie? Norah needs to prepare for whatever is coming their way from this film. It hasn't gone unnoticed that even the magical community is going onset and coming out brainwashed.

Norah Wintry is juggling movie stars with special skills, like shifting into tiger mode, at her Los Angeles talent agency with sinister backlot treachery. Projects in the Hollywood pipeline aren't what they seem, and Norah wants to protect her very special clients. That's not easy when she can't give a good reason to prevent them from signing on to the very lucrative job.

The truth behind the creation of the mother of all monsters has to come out at some point. It always does. The only question is whether or not you survive it. Halsey Ambrosius just didn't think it would be revealed to the other elemental clans before she could tell Brigham. She might be the Alpha Hunter, but she has no idea what that means, other than fighting crazy powerful monsters that are new on the scene.

Nothing is ever what it seems in LaLa Land. Throw in magic and it's a new level of weird and dangerous. Production has finished on the action film, FULL FATHOM FIVE. It's up to magical talent agent, Norah and the Wintry's Warriors to destroy all copies of the film to prevent Magdea's chaos from spreading further. Norah's going to have to call in all her favors, and then some, to discover where other prints are hidden. That won't be easy. Frondle's brainwashing may be permanent. Will magical intervention do the trick? Dr. Orlando thinks he can fix him, but it won't be without side effects.

It's the final year for most of the Defenders at the School of Roots and Vines. It's hard to imagine that Sophie is beginning her senior year and planning her wedding to Marcus the following summer. The group still needs to find their 6th Defender in order to save Thicket Hall and prevent the Serpent from being unleashed.

The fight for the survival of the entire Elemental Race is here and despite his worry, Brigham is taking the monster slayer, Halsey Ambrosius to the airport. She's going to face whatever awaits her at the Order of Skrar's headquarters. The fate of the world is hinging on what happens at this meeting. No big deal, right?
