This is a biting and ribald satire of manners and mores disguised as a fantastic journey to incredible lands. Gulliver's wits and endurance are taxed by the fabulous inhabitants of Lilliput, Brobdingnag, Laputa and other amazing places.

Gulliver’s Travels has been in print since its first publication in 1726, due to its popularity with young and old alike. As well as a wildly imaginative tale of travel and adventure, it is a comment on human nature and an overblown explorer’s story, rich in symbolism and humour. Lemuel Gulliver, an English surgeon, sets sail on expeditions to extraordinary worlds. He is twelve times larger than the inhabitants of Liliput, who recruit him into their military, and equally as small to the people of Brobdingnag.

In 1725, Jonathan Swift published Gulliver's Travels, a book universally acknowledged as one of the most fantastic adventure stories and best satires on the human condition ever written.

In one of the most well-known works of satire, Jonathan Swift puts forth a “modest proposal”. Swift begins by outlining the suffering that the starving beggars in Ireland experience daily. He paints a grim picture of the plight these people face to help the listener relate to the situation before turning the tables and suggesting that to alleviate the economic troubles of the poor, their children could be sold as food to the upper class. The shock from this sudden change is expounded by Swift’s continued explanation of the proposal.
