Everyone has the right to choose, but no one gets to choose the consequences. Sometimes we are unfairly forced to live with the consequences of another person’s actions when facing abuse and domestic violence. Further complications come when the abuser is someone we love. Fortunately, hope and choices are always present for those who look for them.

Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED) is a disorder which often gets diagnosed for people who do not fall under other mental disorders or personality disorders, but who experience rage incidents which are seemingly uncontrollable to them. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, "IED affects as many as 7.3 percent of adults - 11.5-16 million Americans". It is also estimated by NIMH that "six million...adolescents...meet the criteria for an IED diagnosis".

This is a true story of one woman's life with violence. I wrote this book to let other victims know that they are not alone. I also wrote this to help with my own healing. Writing this book has been a form of therapy for me and perhaps better than professional therapy might have been.

Being in a dysfunctional relationship for so long, battling extreme violence has been baffling until now. Seeing the relationship now from the outside has revealed its true nature.
