About this listen
The most terrifying monsters aren't found in dreams....
Four young socialites have gone missing in the Chicago area. Two found dead, bearing the signature marks of a brutal serial killer. With the kind of tragedy that mars Nola Tensley's past, she should be concerned, but without a pot to piss in, all the struggling single mom cares about is making a normal life for her son.
After all, she's clearly not the murderer's type. Or is she?
When Rhett Voss, an enigmatic and handsome stranger, answers her ad for the outdated in-law suite at the back of her property, offering double her asking price, Nola really can't refuse. Even though the supposed Wall Street Wolf seems better suited for a high-rise downtown - a suspicion that quickly turns into hindsight once she submits to the flirtations of her charming new tenant and, consequently, unearths a series of disturbing revelations.
Her curiosities lead her down the path of a madman whose moniker, The Sandman, only hints at the grisly nature of his crimes. He's smart. Evasive. A cunning psychopath with a twisted method of disposing his victims.
And his hunting grounds are hitting too close to home.
Contains mature themes.
©2019 Keri Lake (P)2020 TantorNola is just trying to keep it all together, she’s gone from one heartbreaking situation to another. Now someone wants to give her more pain.
Voss, looking for someone from the past who shouldn’t be alive, he’s forced into a situation he wasn’t expecting.
Things look like they’re about to take an interesting turn of events!
Keri get again pulls it out of the bag to bring us a dark psychological triller.
Unfortunately I wasn’t so keen on Alexander for Voss, loved Lidia for Nola.
When the last thing you want to do is sleep!

When Nola, a single mom, ends up on the Sandman's hit list, Voss, who thought he'd killed his uncle, realises that Nola is on his latest hit list.
Nola has not had the best of upbringing. Her older sister disappeared when she was young. Her husband is brutally murdered in front of their son, Oliver, who hasn't spoken since that night. As a waitress and trying to survive, she ends up renting the in-law studio in her yard. To Voss.
There are a few unanswered questions. Voss seems to be a little out of touch with his uncle's whereabouts and two steps behind, despite being portrayed as the best in his field and very wealthy.
Listening to this, as an audible, Nolas' voice is great, at pace and in tune with the emotions being portrayed. Voss,'s voice needs to be re-edited. There are no breaths or pauses, the speed of the talking is too fast in comparison with Nola's voice. And Voss's imitation of speaking Nola's part was off-putting. I couldn't take it seriously, especially with the speed of the talking.
The book ends with no conclusion, and I guess it continues into the end book Requiem and Reverie.

Narration was great, really brought life to the characters.
Would recommend this duet without hesitation.
So good, murder, madness and obsession!
