I loved this story, captivating, emotive. Strong female character growing stronger. Interesting twists and side characters. Loved the narrator.

Uma is running, hiding and too terrified to even contemplate the future beyond this week, until Ivan who despite being a giant of a man, inexplicably makes her feel safe for the first time in forever. The trauma in this book is haunting, Uma's fight to reclaim her body is powerful and humbling and the acceptance, understanding and love Ivan gives is beautiful. This book covers many difficult subjects, but it handles them with compassion and care, I love the verbal jousting between Uma and Cookie, it is crazy, funny and a little horrifying but again they find mutual acceptance and respect that works for both of them. It does take you on a rollercoaster of emotions, but it's a fantastic book that finishes with your heart full. The narration was very good, with the exception of the British bar tender who has a bizarre accent that is part english, part irish and part unidentifiable.
