My name is Angelique LaFontaine. I was born in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. I'm (Not Going to Tell you) years old and live in the country about an hour outside of Dallas, TX. I am employed as a Mechanical Engineer but spend much of my time painting and writing I have been building my work collection for the last 15 years and it includes paintings, sketches, poetry compilations, novels, digital short stories and much more. I do not limit my writing to one specific genre but I tend to lean more toward fiction fantasy. I love the idea of not having boundaries when writing. If you can think it, in my story, it could happen. In 2008, I released my first poetry compilation. This collection was entitled Walking Before You Run. It is a collection of 75 poems that I've written over the years. In 2010 I released Sandstone and Mirrors: The Crossover. I have many more books and short stories that I am preparing to release. Besides writing, I love to paint and sketch. I enjoy working with acrylic mainly but from time to time, work with other mediums. Currently my work is being displayed in the Little Elm Library in Little Elm TX. It has been rotated throughout different locations in the Dallas area. One very strong feature of the short story is that it allows the author to plant a seed of suspicion in the readers mind and allow the reader to create his or her own ending to a story. This suspenseful story starts out innocently describing any number of female friends we all might have. While you learn a lot about her, like those same friends, what do you really know about her. Would they do something completely out of character? Perhaps, there is just enough doubt created to assume so. And yet, there maybe someone out there, who you would never suspect. Someone who outwardly seems very much like your friend. "Perhaps," you think, "they would have liked her..." Well perhaps they have already met. Good, thought provoking suspenseful story. A quick, entertaining read that will leave you thinking about all the coincidences that are not seen by the police, friends or family. Quick read, leads you down a path that changes in an instant. I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys being on the edge of their seat. I will probably end up reading it again. The description used to develop the story, character, plot ect was dead on. I would have to say, although I really like all of the author's work, this is one of her better stories. This particular books was a very interesting read. The author develops a plotline where the reader is teetering back and forth between reality and dillusion. I think that this story will be a good little head scratcher when you're done reading it. (reviewed within a week of purchase) Review by: Brenda Dubay on July 25, 2012 : 5 STARS! Another great story by this author. Easy to read, with great detail. (reviewed within a week of purchase) Review by: Bobby Fiedler on July 21, 2012 : 4 STARS!~ Yikes! Could this happen to me? What makes people snap? What makes normal people just go over the deep end? This work will get your attention. I really enjoy reading stories that make you want to curl up on the couch during a rainstorm at night and get completely engrossed in a story that when finished reading, will make you jump at the slightest shadow movement or earie sound. Check out this book and I'm sure you will agree with me. (reviewed within a week of purchase) Review by: Brenda Dubay on July 18, 2012 : 5 STARS! Great descriptions throughout the story, had me stuck in the story wondering with her what had happened. Great ending to the story. (reviewed the day of purchase) Review by: Mayank Shah on April 26, 2012 : 4 stars! This is a very good short fiction story. I like the way story started with mystery, what April is doing in the forest at middle of the night and explain later why she is there & what led her to the forest. I like the way mysterious creatures explained in the story. It is different then werewolf stories. Only thing is the end of the story is not what I was expecting, I wish author publish sequel to the story. When I saw that the author was offering all of her books for free for a limited time, I thought that I would help her out with some reviews as she was generous enough to share her creativity with everyone, free of charge. Let's see, this story, I found to be a bit unusual. Much like many of this author's stories, she tends to leave her stories a little bit unresolved, in a good way though. I am starting to think that the author likes the idea of her audience drawing their own conclusions without telling them exactly how the story ends. This one was suspensful and intriguing with a unique plot line. This author is beginning to grow on me. (reviewed the day of purchase) Review by: Brenda Dubay on July 25, 2012 : 5 STARS! Well written story about a horrific incident. Kept me wrapped up in the story. Can't wait to read more from this author. (reviewed within a week of purchase) Review by: Bobby Fiedler on July 22, 2012 : 4 STARS! This guy has a serial killer mentality. The work keeps the reader wondering what is going to happen next. Read it and be glad you don't know him. (reviewed the day of purchase) THE AIR GUY Review by: Bruce Benson on Aug. 01, 2012 : 5 STARS! After reading the biography that the author had released about herself, I wasn't at all surprised to see a story like this one. It seems to bring together the 2 things that this author has demonstrated that she loves, science and thrilling stories. I encourage anybody to read this story if they like stories where a horrific, yet seemingly impossible event takes place as a fictional plot line, but presented in such a knowledgable way that the reader does have to beg the question, can this really happen? (reviewed within a week of purchase) SHE HAS NO NAME Review by: Bruce Benson on July 27, 2012 : 5 STARS! Now this is a book that I found interesting and troubling at the same time. Interesting in the way that there are a lot of issues touched on by the author. That being said, I would not recommend this book to children. Troubling in that, it is a sad reminder of the real life horrors that take place in society. First, I think that the note to the reader in the beginning of the book plays an intricate role. I interpretted it to let the reader be aware of the fact that this book read almost like a memoir. It wasn't intended to give "life" to any of the characters but rather, a chronological list of events that took place in an individual's life. That being said, I can't help but wonder if this is the type of book that all parents should read if they have troubled teenagers that they are trying to get through to. Could help shed a little light on the mentality that they are so far removed from as an adult? Just a thought. Obviously, the book needs a little bit of polishing with the grammatical errors and what not. However, I've noticed that the author publishes all of her own books, that alone is enough to applaude, but with that, I would imagine comes a lot of the responsibility of editing and proofing her own publications. I would have to say that the content of the book is moving and interesting to read, perhaps just put a little bit more elbow grease into the editing and I think that you have got yourself a winner; a book that could perhaps do more good than you know. (reviewed the day of purchase) Review by: Alex DeLeon on June 26, 2012 : 3 STARS! The story deals with very serious issues involving abuse, sexual and otherwise. The story is very intriguing and flows quickly. It flows almost too quickly. The way the author writes it does not allow the reader to relate to the main character, much less to any of the subordinate characters in the story. The entire story reads like an email that you have received from a close friend. Details are rushed through and you are wanting to slow down the dialogue. This method of writing may be a technique used by the writer to "hook" the reader, which may or may not work at times. There is no room left in order for the audience to closely relate to a character because of the high speed passing of events. If there was room left for sympathy it is gobbled up by the grammatical errors the reader must fight through in order to finish a paragraph. This however is a small gripe when you see how much talent this author has in storytelling. Although the story is not unique, many people have suffered from abuse, her presentation and the way she intertwines the entire plot shows her gift. Keep writing, I'm a fan. (reviewed long after purchase) Review by: tamara balter on May 23, 2012 : (no rating) I was excited to preview this book. I have yet to get a chance to read it and have down loaded it to my e-reader to take with me on vacation. I have read all the reviews and can't wait to read it for myself! (reviewed within a month of purchase) Review by: Jimmy Garand on May 01, 2012 : 4 STARS! The book moved me. It's honest and direct. I normally read non fiction but this one held my interest better than most fiction. The author can hit common ground with me on the emotion of scared and shocked. Almost wanted to start smoking again. By the way the last 3 books I read were Stephen King's 11/22/63. Anthony Bourdain's Medium Raw and Walter Isaacson's Steve Jobs. I need a backlog of reading and this author's will probably be one. (reviewed within a week of purchase) Review by: Michelle M on April 29, 2012 : 4 STARS! Very good book! I got a free copy by using the code and want to say THANK YOU because I enjoyed it so much! I downloaded it Friday afternoon. Read the whole book in one sitting last night it was worth it! Like another user said there were a couple of spelling errors but other than that the story was very cohesive. I also agreed that it could have been a better ending instead of how it turned out. What did she do with her life after leaving Taylor? Also she said she was smoking marijuana daily for the past eight years. When she went to the interview at the supermarket, they told her to take a drug test so I guess she was either clean then or just 'miraculously' passed it?? Continunity error there LOL! How did she pass her drug test? PLEASE WRITE A PART TWO OF THIS BOOK !! I want to know whatever happened to Sherman, her first ex?? Thank you again for making this book free to read. You have a fan!! (reviewed within a week of purchase) Review by: Brenda Dubay on April 27, 2012 : 4 STARS! Follow one woman's journey through part of her life. Great story about the troubles of life. I can identify with her at times because I've done dumb things like not leave, and found myself getting angry at the other characters at the way they treat her. Lots of emotion in this book. The book does focus on the main character. Book is appropriately rated and does contain adult content. I enjoyed the body of this book, and the main character. I didn't enjoy the ending as much as the rest of the book, it just dropped off, but it didn't take anything away from the rest of the storyline. (reviewed the day of purchase) Review by: Parents' Little Black Book Reviews on April 24, 2012 : 3 STARS! I noticed online that the author was asking for people to read and review her novel. Having a free afternoon I decided I would read and review it. The novel is listed as fiction and written in the first person. The story is one of physical and emotional abuse and may not be suitable for all audiences. It also includes underage drinking, drug abuse and underage sexual situations including rape. Any story of abuse is difficult to read. The very real emotions of the victims are hard to deal with and their stories traumatic. They wrench our hearts and bring emotions to the surface. We want them to leave the situation or be rescued. Unfortunately in this novel the protagonist never elicits that kind of response. Her affect throughout is so flat and without definition it is hard to find her as a person to identify with. Caught in the cycle of abuse going from one bad relationship to another she appears more apathetic than sympathetic. The same is true of her abusers. They never have a defined personality and are more an adjunct to the plot that participants in it. There are also more than a few grammatical, spelling and word use errors that take away from the reading of the story. I have given the novel 3 Stars more for the attempt to bring abuse in to the light of day and stop the cycle than the writing or story line. She has demonstrated numerous different styles in her writing but, as an objective critism, I think that her strength is fantasy fiction. I was engrossed in this story and could not put it down, in fact, I finished it in a single afternoon. I am eagerly waiting for the next volume. Bravo on this one! Very good read! (reviewed within a week of purchase) Review by: Michelle M on July 05, 2012 : 4 STARS! Really great book! It reminded me of a good SCI-FI book or movie! (reviewed within a month of purchase) Review by: Bobby Fiedler on June 24, 2012 : 5 STARS! Read this book a while ago and wanted to review it here. I have always been amused and interested in books that were similar to Walter Mitty. Walter Mitty is a James Thurber character that day dreams about an escape from a dull and boring domestic life. To me this is a female version of Walter Mitty. It is very good. It will take you on a fantasy trip that will capture your attention. I'm smiling thinking about it now. (reviewed the day of purchase) Review by: Brenda Dubay on June 13, 2012 : 5 STARS! So far the best book I've read by this author. I had a hard time putting this book down because it was such a good adventure. Hope to read more from this author! (reviewed the day of purchase)
