Barbara Arnold Linkous is an author who blends American stories with real history and fictional characters inspired by the lives of her ancestors in the Appalachian Mountains. She also writes soul-stirring devotionals that reflect the power of prayer and the everyday journey of Christians, drawing inspiration from Biblical examples and the everyday challenges of life. Barbara is a living testament to the idea that it’s never too late to follow your dream. Gifted with a vivid imagination and a talent for storytelling at an early age, she dreamed of becoming a writer. However, life’s responsibilities intervened, and her dream was set aside. It wasn’t until her retirement that she rekindled her passion and found the determination to bring her stories to life. Barbara is passionate about sharing her belief in the power of prayer. Her devotional books, Words Attitudes Actions and her latest title, Beyond the Biblical 40: The Journey to 41, are inspirational resources designed to help readers connect with God through prayer. Words Attitudes Actions includes short messages and scriptures to guide readers in starting with prayer, while Beyond the Biblical 40 explores a journey of faith and spiritual growth. In addition, her Life on Bay’s Mountain Historical Fiction Series—comprising Cora's Story, Murrell's Story, and Sarah's Story—brings to life the struggles and triumphs of fictional characters inspired by her Appalachian heritage. Through family challenges and personal trials, the main characters ultimately discover hope and perseverance. Barbara grew up in northeastern Tennessee, where she still resides. She is the middle child of seven raised in a preacher's home. She is a proud wife, mother, and grandmother of seven.
