Hello and welcome. I am glad that you are here. With over 30 years of experience as a clinical and developmental psychologist, I have specialized in attachment, development and trauma. My background in child development has informed my understanding of how early experiences shape emotional well-being and development throughout life; and how emotional risk and resilience are often passed from one generation to the next. My career has been shaped by research, teaching, and hands-on clinical practice. I have been privileged to collaborate with leading researchers in child development and psychology from UC Davis, Tufts University, Harvard University and the Child Development Unit of Boston Children's Hospital and to contribute to advancements in attachment and trauma research. One of my key contributions was integrating trauma-related questions into the Adult Attachment Interview, helping to bridge the gap between attachment theory and trauma studies. I also did policy-based research that helped extend Head Start services to children aged zero to three in the U.S. and research that explored the historical care of dependent children in the U.S. In addition to clinical work after a post-doctoral fellowship at the Reiss-Davis Child Study Center of Los Angeles, I spent 15 years teaching human development at the college level. I also spent five years as a social worker in child protective services. As a mother and grandmother, I try to bring both professional expertise and personal experience to my writing. Over the five-plus decades of my career, I have worked with a wide range of clients—women, men, couples, adolescents, young children and their families, and people from marginalized communities. I am deeply honored to have learned and shared so much from so many. My books reflect these experiences, offering insights and guidance for healing psychological wounds, strengthening developmental trajectories, and breaking free from limiting emotional patterns. Whether used alongside therapy or as a first step in self-discovery, my goal is to empower readers to build deeper, healthier connections.
