Carice is a seasoned professional who is passionate about entrepreneurship, empowering people, growing leaders, helping people identify and operate in their strengths and working with organizations to improve trust and impact. She believes that leadership of self, others, and organisations is the answer to all of the challenges and opportunities in the world today. Carice is the author of Intelligence Isn’t Enough: A Black Professional’s Guide to Thriving in the Workplace. The book is published by Jonathan Ball Publishers and it is a career advice manual for young black professionals. It has been endorsed by Celiwe Ross, Human Capital Director for Old Mutual, one of the oldest and most respected pan-African companies. Her book is currently available via e-book (Amazon, ITSI, Kobo, and Snapplify) and via physical book in all major South African bookstores (Exclusive Books, CNA, Takealot, Bargain Books, Love Books, Book Lounge, Loot, Wordsworth and more). In the book, Carice helps professionals understand themselves more fully, build better relationships and have more fun and more impact at work. She shares experiences and lessons learned from a) her education and career at Harvard Business School, McKinsey & Company and Deloitte, b) her freelance work with Bain & Company and Google and c) the careers of approximately 30 black professionals she interviewed who have worked in Africa, the USA and Europe in the fields of private equity, entrepreneurship, technology, consulting, healthcare, financial services and non-profit. Carice helps individuals understand how they can integrate the knowledge of self, others and the environment to craft an authentic personal brand and communication style that helps them have maximum impact. After moving to South Africa, Carice spent almost 4.5 years working as a Professional Development Manager for the Johannesburg office of McKinsey & Company and she also served as the office’s Diversity & Inclusion Manager. One of her other roles at McKinsey was to serve as the Programme Manager for the McKinsey Leadership Programme, a two-year rotational leadership development programme for early career Black South Africans. In this role, Carice conducted trainings and coached seven cohorts of young leaders on topics of leadership development, performance, vision, branding, purpose and career pathways. Prior to that, Carice was the founder of Thrive Leadership Advisory, a leadership consulting, coaching and facilitation firm. Through her work for Thrive, Carice counts Google, McKinsey & Company, Bain & Company, Sekela Xabiso (SkX), Allan Gray Orbis Foundation, The Seed Academy, Orange Corners, and Publicis Media among her clients. Prior to moving to South Africa, Carice worked in human capital consulting for eight years with Deloitte Consulting, Aon-Hewitt and Arthur Andersen. She spent three years working on leadership, change management and performance management projects at Fulton County Schools as part of the Broad Residency in Urban Education fellowship. Carice has lived in South Africa since 2011 and she has been featured sharing her thoughts on leadership development on CNBC and Unbranded on Cliff Central. Carice is a Senior Principal with Korn Ferry, a U.S.-headquartered organisational strategy consulting firm. Since joining Korn Ferry, Carice has been part of projects which include: diversity and inclusion strategy development, facilitation of leadership development and diversity and inclusion programmes, assessment feedback, change management and communications planning, custom 360 assessment development, one-on-one coaching, executive interviews, benchmarking exercises, development of success profiles and facilitation of Talent Review sessions. Carice has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the University of Alabama. Outside of her passion for entrepreneurship, self-empowerment, and leadership, Carice is an avid lover of spiritual, leadership and business books and she enjoys spending time with her husband Fungayi, traveling, spas, chocolate, and laughter.
