Ian Roberts (writing as I.D. Roberts) was born in a tiny flea-bitten dust bowl outside of Melbourne, Australia in 1970 and was then, without his permission, moved to England at the age of three. Growing up, he developed an obsession with war comics, movies, Tintin and James Bond. He became a published author in 2014, and since then he has had three novels and one novella published. They are two in an action-adventure series set during the First World War, and the third is an adaptation of his grandmother's memoirs about her time as a trainee nurse during the Blitz. His fourth book, an Historical Fantasy set in an Elizabethan world threatened by the rise of witchcraft, currently sits in a file awaiting discovery. His journalism work of 20+ years came to a juddering end with the rise of AI in May 2023, and since then he has reinvented himself as an artisan baker. But a pen is never far from his hand. He lives, bakes and writes in rural Somerset.
