Johnny Smith is an Associate Professor of History and the J.C. "Bud" Shaw Professor of Sports History at Georgia Tech. He writes about sports history and American culture. An award-winning author, Smith has published five books: Jumpman: The Making and Meaning of Michael Jordan; War Fever: Boston, Baseball, and America in the Shadow the Great War (with Randy Roberts); A Season in the Sun: The Rise of Mickey Mantle (with Roberts); Blood Brothers: The Fatal Friendship Between Muhammad Ali and Malcolm X (with Roberts); and The Sons of Westwood: John Wooden, UCLA, and the Dynasty That Changed College Basketball.
