Nancy has been writing since she was knee-high to Mad Magazine (and yes, that means a lot of her material has dry humor in it!). Her professional career started at Actors Theatre of Louisville where she had a boatload of short plays done, including Attack of the Moral Fuzzies, which was published by Sam French and has been produced dozens of times around the U.S. and Canada. Then she moved to L.A. and began working in TV. She had a lot of fun working with talented folks on Roseanne, Blossom, Desperate Housewives and Ghost Whisperer but decided instead of continuing the traditional Hollywood TV path, she would produce her own work. That decision meant a lot of artistic fulfillment. Some of her fav projects include The Calamities of Jane, an 11-part 90-minute web series (co-written and co-produced with Rebecca Klingler) about a woman dealing with ageism and sexism in Hollywood (imagine that?!) and Shelby’s Vacation, a lesbian romance film about two women who learn to give up their fantasies and live in the present to find love. She’s developed several plays with Fierce Backbone, her playwriting group, including Sister from Another Planet, a one-person show she wrote and performed at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in 2023. She also had a blast creating the plays Dyke-Doggie Patrol (chosen by West Hollywood for its Pride Readings in 2022), Handcrafted Healing (chosen by the Athena Project in Denver for a workshop production), and Community (made the top 12 of the American Association of Community Theatres). And now her newest creation: the novel version of Shelby’s Vacation, where she gets to tell the full story of Shelby and Carol.
