Nancy Dowd has taught and written about racial justice, social justice, feminist and masculinities theory, family law and juvenile justice, and fatherhood for four decades. Her core focus is equality and justice, and the reimagining of what that means in multiple areas that intersect and interact. She is an emeritus professor of the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where she was a Distinguished University Professor, Levin Family Law Chair, and Director of the Center on Children and Families. During her career at UF in addition to organizing multiple cutting edge projects, conferences, and collaborations, she also engaged in international work and advocacy, including a stint as a Distinguished Fulbright Chair in Lund Sweden, and a Distinguished Visiting Professor in Aalborg Denmark. Her current work focuses on continuing to foster cutting edge collaborations in family law, and the implementation strategies for the radical mandate of Brown v. Board of Education. She also loves sailing and dancing, and her newest passion is abstract painting!
