Hello there and welcome - I am an Irish-born writer living in Dallas, Texas. I'm the author of 5 historical fiction novels, all with an Irish connection. In my latest book, The Famine Orphans (out May 27, 2025), the characters left Ireland far behind after a four-month long voyage to Australia in 1848. As an immigrant to America at the age of 20, I saw myself in this true story of young Irish orphan girls struggling to make their way in an unfamiliar country. In 2008 I walked away from my position as a Managing Director for a major consulting firm to give my dream of becoming a writer a chance. It was not an easy choice but that "little voice in my head" convinced me that the fear and anxiety I had about diving into the unknown paled beside the disappointment I would feel if I “died with my dream still in me!" In 2010 I was rewarded with the publication of The Yellow House. Now I view this current phase of my life as my “Second Act” and I strongly encourages anyone with a dream to pursue it no matter what their age. It’s never too late! Here's to your "Second Act". Maybe there’s even a “Third Act” still to come !!
