Ros was born in Germany during the Hitler years. An eventful odyssey took them across the Czech border, through the Soviet Sector, into West Germany. See her website http://www.mimiart.com/madman.html Inspired by the idea of a United Europe, Ros organized a student group. Yet the local Communist leader frowned upon the idea with increasing violence, so her parents whisked her to safety as an au pair in England and France. In 1953, a Fulbright Scholarship brought her to the United States. After graduating from Smith College and the Harvard/Radcliffe Business Program, she married. Her husband's first employment took them to a sugar plantation on a sunny Caribbean Island. An opportunity to sail a small vessel from the East coast through the Panama Canal to San Francisco took them and their infant daughter for months to sea. She and three men shared the 4-hour turns at the helm, but all "womanly" duties, such as cooking, cleaning and sail mending, fell solely to her. ☺ In 1972, life changed. Suddenly without a husband and without a job, no money and no credit card, she and her two children sought refuge in the mountains at Lake Tahoe where she taught skiing. A job offer as editor of the West-coast German newspaper brought her back to San Francisco. In the evenings she taught courses at Golden Gate University and obtained further degrees. After 25 years as a risk management consultant with Warren, McVeigh & Griffin, and writing their worldwide publication, Practical Risk Management, she retired to write books. In 2004, she published Live, Laugh and Learn, about life's humorous pitfalls & the foibles of men. Her 2nd book, The Madman & His Mistress, rose to fourth place in Amazon's War and History genre. She wrote Humor in Hard Times, tales secretly told under Stalin, Hitler and Mao, for Kindle users. Her favorite book is In Search of the Good Life, "...a Tao for modern living: metaphysics distilled. Poetic and moving. Every page beautifully illustrated by well-known artist Mimi Stuart...," published in 2010. In spare moments she learned to hang-glide and windsurf, and became Squaw Valley's first female volunteer Ski Patrol. She lives in the Bay area.
