Sheri Van Dijk is a psychotherapist, with a Master's Degree in Social Work; she has been working in the field of mental health since 2001. Sheri has extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, and Mindfulness Practice, and she writes about skills to help people with mental health problems lead more fulfilling lives; and her fifth book, "DBT Made Simple," focuses on teaching clinicians how to use DBT in their own practice to help people manage their emotions more effectively. Sheri's next book, Relationship Skills 101 for Teens, will help teenagers be more effective in the relationships in their lives, and will be released at the beginning of 2015. She is currently working on her next book, Surviving the Emotional Roller Coaster for Teens, which will help youth learn DBT skills to manage their emotions more effectively; look for this book to be released in the fall of 2015. Sheri is also an international speaker, leading workshops in which mental health clinicians learn how to use DBT to treat a variety of mental health problems, such as bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety. Sheri practices in Ontario, Canada. In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her family, including her dogs, Tess and Oliver. She also loves to travel, scuba dive, and read - some of her favorite authors include Stephanie Meyer, Anne Rice, Stephen King, Kelly Armstrong, Kim Harrison, Jeffery Deaver and Jonathan Kellerman.
