Sophie Grégoire Trudeau is an engaged advocate for mental health, emotional literacy, and gender equality. She is a mother of three and an adventurous sportswoman. Over the past twenty years, she has been involved with a variety of causes as a speaker, interviewer, and mentor, including teenage self-esteem, women’s and girls’ rights and freedoms, and eating disorders. As part of her advocacy work, she shares her time with a number of charities and non-profit organizations. She is the national volunteer for the Canadian Mental Health Association and is Plan International’s Youth Leadership Global Ambassador. She is a recipient of the 2013 UN Women National Committee Canada Recognition Award for her contribution to human rights, the 100th Member of Nature Canada’s Women for Nature initiative, and a recipient of the Because Mothers Matter Award. Passionate about movement, exercise, and yoga, Sophie completed both her hatha yoga and “Radiant Child” teacher certifications. She has taught yoga and meditation classes online as well as in different public schools close to her home. She loves painting, writing, playing music, and, most of all, human mischief.
