Suchitra Shenoy grew up on bedtime stories steeped in science and a vivid moral imagination. (The robots were always good.) Intermittently, she was whisked to Indian villages. There, the stories were quite different. Not surprisingly, she was drawn to work in the social sector. She has worked on innovative market-based approaches to poverty and is deeply interested in issues of healthcare, education and financial services for the poor. As a founding member of the Inclusive Markets team at the Monitor Group, an international consulting firm, she examined market-based solutions to poverty, especially business models that serve the poor as customers and as producers. Suchitra is on the advisory board of Youth 4 Jobs Foundation, which works with companies to give impoverished young people the skills they need for meaningful employment. She enjoys sharing good ideas, especially inspiring ones. Her latest work in the field of impact investing can be seen in the Stanford Social Innovation Review (Lasting Imact: Investing via Open Holding Companies). She holds degrees from Brandeis University and the London School of Economics. She is moved by words, music, and photography.
