Raised free range as a middle child in Montana. Thanks to public school teachers, I survived the peer pressure predators and escaped the repeat offenders in my flock of wild siblings. I survived again, this time, the politician-driven Army’s attempt to find a place for me to get hurt or worse. I grew more and gained wisdom from my U.S. Army experience. And please don’t thank me for my service, I was obligated and paid. In all, both good and bad experiences matured me into a young man with the same dreams of better places and things as anyone. Eventually, those dreams were fulfilled with collegiate academics, academic scholarships, a degree, and my own family. I became an adult, as a father being raised by his wife’s significant contribution and the children’s needs. I am a man who grew-up learning everyday while maturing in Texas and now as an Oregonian that loves the view. I’m a guy who is relied on because I earned everything I have by being credible in words and acts, even when it hurts to be honest or costs me money. A man who’s vintage eventually taught me his place in the order of operations. One of the few who knows that changing the world is no longer optional because we are not the masters of nature, not yet. Now an older man, but not that old, who is still naive enough to believe he can accomplish global change by revealing sequestration’s knowledge. A man solely responsible for the mess and confusion he’s uncovered about global warming and is now forced to share. I am a neighbor, a dad, a scientist, a friend with good advice, and an idiot with enough hope to give away. I defined that hope to improve Earth so we could share our legacy with future generations. But I’m haunted by nobody listening to what we have most recently learned. That is, until it’s too late.
