Summary
While singleness is often widely misunderstood by many in the church today and often viewed in negative terms, the Bible speaks about it very differently. This book sets forth a positive vision of singleness by responding to seven common misconceptions, such as the notion that singleness is too hard, requires a special spiritual gift, is a hindrance to ministry, or is a waste of sexuality. Addressed to the church as a whole and written by a single pastor, 7 Myths About Singleness will help listeners better understand, support, and empower the singles around them to contribute to the flourishing of the church as a whole.

The best book on singleness I've read
Over the past 5-6 years, I have read as many books on the topic(s) of singleness, marriage, the will of God in relationships, etc. This is comfortably the best of them, when it comes to discussing singleness.
Too often, I find these kinds of books fall into one of three traps:
i) Saying that singleness is just a season in life.
ii) Treating the thought of singleness as mortifying – or a “cross to bear”.
iii) Trying to argue that singleness is unambiguously great, for a single chapter/section/paragraph/sentence, before swiftly moving onto the more comfortable topic of marriage.
This book does not fall into any of these traps. Sam Allberry takes a frank, open and honest look at singleness – both its advantages (and he convincingly argues that these are not insignificant!) and its pitfalls.
While the book is structured around “7 Myths”, it is very easy to experience as a straightforward and comprehensive discussion about singleness, relationships, and marriage – but with the prime focus being on singleness.
I don’t agree with absolutely everything he says – and I have not experienced the weight of some of the feelings he expresses in the penultimate chapter (though I can completely understand how they would arise). However, in terms of non-canonical Christian books, this is 1 of perhaps 3 I’ve read in the past 2 years that I would strongly recommend to all. This recommendation is not limited to Christian singles, but also applies to couples: I would strongly advise you to read this book if you are seeking to understand/help your single friends, or if you’re trying to understand why anyone would remain single.
Also, the performance of the audiobook is top class. I think Jon Hemmer does a fantastic job of emphasising the meaning of the text.

Brilliant book. But please hire some Brits!
Fantastic book! Only one I know if on this issue and it's a cracker!
But learn to pronounce the author's name and any referenced cultural oddities. I'm sure we can hope for that with the internet.

Biblically and personally rich reflection
Rewarding for both singles and non-singles this book both deals with common Christian misconceptions about singleness and gives deeply Biblical and personally reflective account of the single life in both it's challenges and blessings.
