About this listen

A breakthrough program for triathletes - beginner, intermediate, and advanced - showing how to balance training intensity to maximize performance - from a fitness expert and elite coach.

Cutting-edge research has proven that triathletes and other endurance athletes experience their greatest performance when they do 80 percent of their training at low intensity and the remaining 20 percent at moderate to high intensity. But the vast majority of recreational triathletes are caught in the so-called "moderate-intensity rut", spending almost half of their time training too hard - harder than the pros. Training harder isn't smarter; it actually results in low-grade chronic fatigue that prevents recreational athletes from getting the best results.

In 80/20 Triathlon, Matt Fitzgerald and David Warden lay out the real-world and scientific evidence, offering concrete tips and strategies, along with complete training plans for every distance - sprint, Olympic, half-Ironman, and Ironman - to help athletes implement the 80/20 rule of intensity balance. Benefits include reduced fatigue and injury risk, improved fitness, increased motivation, and better race results.

Buy it as a book instead

A really good book, but better as a book rather than audiobook (although it does come with a PDF)

Helpful, gives good depth to understand principles

I enjoyed the book, Gives a good review of the evidence of what the principle is about, and how it has come about. And the pdf is downloadable from the Audible desktop website. Helpfully it has the training plans which if you bought from their website would cost you up to $85. Bargain!

PDF wont download.

Very good listen. Would be better if pdf would download to reference various chapters to quoted PDF.

not great as an audiobook

Content really interesting but just doesn't really work as an audiobook. Even with accompanying pdf would still get most out of the writing if able to flick from one chapter to another. Advise the print version.

Does what it says on the tin

Think it could be told better as a newbie planning to get into triathlon. Haven't yet explored if the PDF or parts of are printable would be nice but I doubt it. The PDF is under chapter heading as some in previous reviews couldn't find it. Will be listening to it at least once more thoroughly before going over parts again at times.

Boring

The author keeps going over the same topics over and over again. Far too complex for easy listening

Great Concept terrible book

The 80/20 concept is well established and used but this book just bores me to death, very poorly communicated, I couldn’t get to the end, I’ll stick with Joe Friel.

Doesn’t work as an audiobook

Full of plans and programs and stats that just doesn’t work as an audiobook. Clever experienced people have written this in great detail but too hard to follow via audio only. Some funny lines in it though.
