A shocking announcement
One morning the villagers of Chipping Cleghorn wake to find a strange notice in their papers:
‘A murder is announced and will take place on Friday, October 29th, at Little Paddocks at 6.30pm.’
Suspecting this is just a joke, they gather for some evening entertainment.
Then a gunshot is heard.
In desperation, the police turn to an old lady whose hobbies are gardening, gossiping – and solving murders.
After all, old ladies know better than anyone exactly what goes on in quiet English villages…

Brilliant reading of a great mystery
One of Agatha Christie's finest murder mysteries and a superb study of human nature, read perfectly as always by Emilia Fox.

The Queen of Crime
I’ve always loved Agatha Christie’s work so this was undoubtedly an amazing book, always keeps you guessing and second guessing who done it, and of course Miss Marple is an amazing character, sharp as a tack and unassuming with her little old lady demeanour, a must listen for all fans

Classic Miss Marple x Emilia Fox
Great story, brilliant performance.
I’d guessed some of it but so many great characters it was still a joy to the last word.
Bit disappointed however that chapter 7 seems to have been deleted after the first 20 seconds or so though so production needs a bit more attention to detail!

Staggeringly good narration!
Flawless rendition of this classic story. Emilia Fox does a grand job – her characterisation and acting are spot-on. More like listening to a play with multiple actors than a narrated audiobook.

perfectly read and one of the good Christie's
Emilia Fox has a lovely reading voice, so it was a great bed time story. The murderer was predictable but I didn't get the motive, so still got a sense of denouement

A brilliant Miss Marple Story
I love this audio book. It keeps the listener guessing. There are many really good characters. An unlikely murderer. Agatha Christie fans will love it.

This one is goooood
Now, some of this hasn't aged well but that's by-the-by.
However, if you're into Christie, this is just a delicious perfect-for-Halloween read.
Only neg really is that Mitsy's voice is soooo shrill that I had to turn it down for those bits haha.

Just flawless! Emilia Fox's narration is sublime!
Another excellent mystery by the Queen of Crime herself! I've read all the Christie novels many times but listening to them narrated by such fantastic performers - Emilia Fox being my favourite - elevates the books to new heights.
"A Murder is Announced" is a classic Christie murder mystery and will not disappoint any crime fiction lovers.
