Summary

When hordes of people descend on the picturesque village of Nasely for the annual celebration of its most famous resident, murder mystery writer Agnes Crabbe, events take a dark turn as the festival opens with a shocking death.

Each year the residents are outnumbered by crowds dressed as Crabbe’s lady detective, Millicent Cutter. The weekend is never a mild-mannered affair as fan club rivalries bubble below the surface, but tensions reach new heights when a second Crabbe devotee is found murdered. Though the police are quick to arrive on the scene, the facts are tricky to ascertain as the witnesses, suspects and victim are all dressed as Miss Cutter. And they all want to solve that crime, too....

well plotted, exciting and funny

Really enjoyed this story and Rula Lenska's voice acting is perfect. Great characters and some proper chuckles. A real homage to the genre

A mad & glorious rollick through mystery & murder

Hilarious for those who love murder mysteries and detective fiction. Plays on all the old tropes, and kept me guessing right up until the end. A light and lovely listen

Brilliantly funny crazy village crime caper!

This book made me laugh out loud at times with its haplessly hilarious characters. Its loaded with subplots, crazy characters and is really good fun and actually manages to also have a brilliant plot line.
I highly recommend it if you like cosy village crime and a damn good laugh!
I actually knew about this book before it was published through unbounders and loved the idea so much I pledged to support it. I’m so glad I did because it really was a pleasure to listen to.
Finally, Rula Lenska was brilliant. Perfect casting for this book.

Poignant study of humanity

The actual plot here is frankly rubbish, but it's worth a read for the poignant and occassionally hilarious observations on humanity made by the ex copper author. In the early parts of the recording Rula Lenska stumbles over some words: synonymous becomes synomous for example. This was a bit annoying and should have been picked up on the edit.

Loved the humour and the characters

Loved it all ! Great characters , humour , and I enjoyed the narrator . Nothing to dislike. I will listen again at a later date and cannot wait to listen to the authors next book ; which I already have lined up .

Really enjoyed this book!

I was quite surprised by this book to be honest, pleasantly surprised by Rula Lenska as a narrator and she did the different voices very well. I was in two minds whether to listen to it and even wondered why I'd used a credit I but it but I'm so glad I gave it a go! It had me laughing a lot in various places, mainly at the inept policemen, and a rugby player dressed a woman 😁
