Critic reviews

"What a refreshing book! If you're tired of religious prayer games and rote prayers that stop at the ceiling or if you have suspected that God was on vacation somewhere, this book will change your life. And if you're thinking about giving up on prayer, don't! At least not until you've read this book. When you have, you'll thank me for recommending it to you." (Steve Brown, Professor, Reformed Theological Seminary; teacher on the syndicated radio program Key Life)

One of the best audiobooks I have read and listened on prayer. The part on praying as a child is worthy rereading (relistening) more than once. A Call to Spiritual Life by Don Carson will be an excellent book to compliment this book in regards to praying Biblically and Just Do Something by Kevin DeYoung to correct the listening to God bit.

Excellent audiobook on prayer!

A good book and worth reading if you are wanting to pray more than you do already. The author includes in here his family and how prayer does work for them. He also gives suggestions about ways to pray which are helpful and encouraging. This book is well narrated and easy to listen to.

I liked the idea of prayer cards rather than prayer lists. See how cards keeps things flexible, and add texts along side so can focus on how God works.

I have listened to this book quite a number of times now. Paul Millar tells a beautiful story of a prayerful life with all its ups and downs. It is a very honest account of the challenges of embedding prayer into everyday life which demonstrates how trust and persistence are essential. The evolving stories about Kim are heart breaking, funny and utterly compelling. These glimpses into real family life are both reassuring and inspiring. Paul refers to scripture regularly and relates it to his own experiences to explain how suffering, unanswered prayers and quite unexpected answers to prayers have all contributed to deepening his relationship with God. His description of a trip to Florida left me in wonder at how God can utterly transform your perspective! I also particularly enjoyed the account of his relationship with a critical friend. I really recommend you read the whole book to see how each story unfolds!

Well worth reading!
