the reunion of mulberry lane

I have like the story, but unfortunately found it hard to get used to the narrator, all the men spoke in very slow voices, it was annoying, and Rose always had a South Western accent in the other book, not so in this book , I think it would of been better if the narrator hadn't tried so far.

Oh this narrator!!!

Really good series story wise. The writing is not perfect but doesn't spoil it. But the narrator's dreadful inflections and mispronounciatiins do. If it wasn't such an enjoyable read, I'd have abandoned it ages ago because of her. I cannot understand how the editors pass it for listening!!!

Oh God the narrator is shocking!

I managed to get through this and as much as I love these books will have to give them a rest until I can face her awful voices again! Why do the woman now all sound soft and when on the phone talk loudly and slowly like the other person doesn’t speak English! Story was nice but spoiled!

Not quite as good as previous books

I have listened to every book in the series and this wasn’t the strongest listen in fact it was the weakest of the Mulberry Lane series. I didn’t feel the narration was that good, the storyline/plot was also very weak. I hope the next one is a bit more meaty and the accents are more authentic

Poor reader

I have listened to the whole series so far and sadly this new reader spoilt this book. The best reader was Susie Ridell who read the first book in the series. The storyline is enjoyable, but I am reluctant to continue to the next in the series if read by this reader.

Mulberry Lane reunion

Struggled from ages of children Maggie came over as younger than twins. Voices were cringe worthy on everyone. Narrator made them all sound like robots. Geography wrong travel from torquay to Truro is around 70 mile and those days cars slower a regular trip to skate would be taxing by any standards. Maureen sounded like on helium. Sorry so confusing and disappointing

Great Series - Never replace a good narrator!

We continue to follow the characters of Mulberry Lane, Rosie Clarke writes wonderful stories and I've enjoyed the series so far, we are now after the war and the families are forever growing and creating new businesses and managing with life post war.

I must mention the change of narration on this 7th book! Where are all the strong women of Mulberry Lane? The narrator has change them into weak, childlike women with squeaky cringeworthy voices. The male voices sound slow and at times drunk. Peggy the main character of this series would be now late 40s/early 50s and she sounds like a 20 year old, infact all these characters sound like teenagers rather than middle aged.

I also enjoy another series by Rosie called Harpers Emporium and the narrator changed after book 2 and it changed the characters totally (same narrator as Mulberry Lane) why is Polly Edsell used for these type of books, the era is unsuitable for her voice.

I doubt I will continue with the series as narration is unbearable, why does Boldwood Books let this happen? Destroyed another fantastic series AGAIN! Maybe they only want people reading, rather an listening.

Narrator

I wish a narrator would sign a contract with the author at the start of a series, you get comfortable with the characters and what you think they all look like by their voices and then disaster, a different voice wrecks the series for me, suddenly the characters are different and it ruins the whole experience for me.

Dreadful narration

Couldn’t get into the story at all the narration was terrible. I’m reading as a series the the notator is changed and it spoils the experience. She was trying to change the accents for every character and it really didn’t work for me at all, such a pity as I was really enjoying the series until then.
