Summary

From bestselling indie author Laura Thalassa comes the newly revised and edited second book in her smash-hit dark fantasy romance between a siren and the “bargainer” she owes countless favors to.

She survived the mad king … but the nightmare isn’t over.

Siren Callypso Lillis still wears the physical reminders of her time as Karnon’s captive, even after reuniting with soulmate Desmond Flynn, the King of Night. Not only that, but mounting evidence suggests the Thief of Souls, the being responsible for the disappearance of countless fae warriors, is still out there.

Invited to an annual Solstice celebration, Callie and Des journey to the Kingdom of Flora to continue their investigation. But under the bright lights and striking blooms of the realm, new complications arise, ones that no amount of bargaining can undo. Soldiers begin to go missing from the gathering, and some of the fae begin to suspect Des is the man behind it all. To Callie, one thing is certain: no one is who they appear to be. Not even her soulmate.

Fairies play dangerous games. Some want love, some want vengeance, some want flesh, and some want horrors too unspeakable to name. Something is stirring in the Land of All that Grows, and if Callie isn’t careful, it will claim everything she loves—and her along with it.

Simply amazing

What’s not to like. The story and performance is great. I’d like to make a bargain.

Romantasy at its finest

Another good read. Picked up right where book two left off.
It was interesting, fast paced and I like the author’s writing style.

This series is easy to digest. There isn’t an overly complicated world building and the characters are likeable.

A sorta-slow but sweet MC.

I like the mysteries and the worldbuilding. However, for a main character presented as being a smart-ass, super observant PI, she’s annoyingly slow on the uptake. Luckily she is not an actually annoying character, so the story is still very interesting.

Romantic by numbers

OK I guess. I think the author was trying for a Shadow daddy/ sub- dom relationship but ended up with borderline abuse and a heroine that was totally unable to defend herself without her big strong mate turning up (who has been waiting for her to be old enough to be with him for years). I'll listen to the last one where it will hopefully redeem itself

A strange hymn

Such a well written text with both humour and tragedy. With such a sound storyline it was very exciting and heart wrenching at the same time.

It’s starting to get interesting!

The first book was nice, seeing their relationship unfold, but this was better. More characters, more action and I think a nice book if you like acotar etc. the narrator was ok but the English accent drove me mad as she mispronounced so many words. It spoiled the believability of the fae a little. Good story.

very predictable

very predictable, and the main character is getting dumber, I can't believe she's a P.I.

Enjoyable

Not quite as strong as the first book in my opinion. I found the plot a bit too slow to unfold. However, it’s still a beautifully crafted fantasy novel. Stunning world building, lovely writing and fantastic narration. The end was really strong and I’ll be listening to the next book.

Better than book 1

This read as a gruesome and spicy fairytale, and it raised as many questions as it answered. I just couldn't put it down. The suspense and mystery got me gripped, the spicy scenes were 🔥 and I loved that her bff made an appearance too.
There was plenty I didn't expect and I can't wait to see how things will develop.
It all started as Callie learned to deal with all that happened to her on book 1. Des was super sweet, sexy and vicious in equal measure. Loved them, even if their bickering was a bit annoying at times.
The narration was excellent.
Free on ku and audible subscription too (until 17/05 only).
