Thoroughly enjoyed this book. A brave masterpiece in social observation far beyond the surface story. The complexity of the character and ‘missing’ details for you to challenge your own assumptions provided a rare enjoyment. The performance of the voice artist was spot on for the mood and complexity of the novel. I must have been listening to a different audiobook to the reviewer comparing it to an AI voice. I will read anything Lillian Fishman publishes in future and I sincerely hope she does so.

This book is a honest narrative of what most people aspire to experience but are constrained by social norms and expectations. To be read it with an open mind.

Listened to about a half of it. Did not captivate me at all, the story has no meaning and it gets very repetitive. Can't say I'm overly picky with my readings, and I don't like to half-read books, but this one was really not worth my time (or credit).
It's essentially just an overly long, overly complicated description of sex and over sexualisation with unpleasant themes scattered all over. I felt I needed to scrub my brain after and put a more positive reading on. Don't get what others see in this!

This is a truly terrible book, made worse in audio format. It had nothing interesting to say about relationships, sex, feminism, gender, or sexuality. The narration was beyond dispassionate, verging on sounding like an AI voice. The way the narrator added extra syllables to words like “summer” and “body” made me want to put my phone in a blender (and the author uses the word “body” every other sentence). Just a waste of time and money, don’t make the same mistake I did!!

I purchased this after seeing it reviewed, very enthusiastically online. The premise sounded interesting and different , so I was keen to listen.

Unfortunately after listening for two hours, the complex plot began to confuse, and later bore me.

I persevered to the end of the title; overall failing to engage or symphathise with any of characters. Decided to return and get credit refunded
