Plenty of detail brings this period alive.

I really enjoyed the anecdotal information, which created powerful images of the daily lives, opportunities, restrictions and injustices of this time.

Excellent performance by the narrator was marred by the poor pronunciation of European names, whether people or places. I've found this in all the American narrators I've listened to on Audible and it's a shame.

I know France and Germany very well and would have loved to know the places he was referring to. Only Bordeaux was pronounced properly and I could just about work out when he mentioned Augsberg, despite the warped pronunciation.

It's a shame the publishers don't invest a small amount of time and money into teaching its narrators the correct pronunciation.
