I was pleasantly surprise that I really enjoyed this book. The portrayal of the 2nd World war in London was very well written, as were the characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and would have given it a five star rating were it not for a couple graphic sex scenes which to me were wholly gratuitous and not really needed. I’m not a prude but couldn’t really see the point of them. Don’t let that put you off though as the story is well worth it.

Truly the best audiobook that I've listened to. It's touched me on so many levels, I loved every word.

I rather like a WW2 novel, and have read a few. This is splendid piece of writing and weaves two stories together present day and the war years.

Jane the bride who walks into the bar, who is not quite what she seems. However she unfolds slowly and lays herself bare.
Rose is the young child/woman arriving in London during the war because she does not want to be a landgirl. The book goes back and forth in time, however you never feel lost or confused in the grand scheme .

Imogen church beautifully narrates and her male and female voices as well as accents are faultless.

I would thoroughly recommend this book.

I loved this book, the best one in a while, the characters were real and rounded - as the story unfolded slowly it was captivating.

I couldn't warm to any of the characters. Personally I'm not keen on books that switch from past to future. This is London during the war, young impressionable girls and GI's I must say that Imogen Church did a good job with poor material
