Exquisite and exceptional
This book is so beautifully written with a story that is totally engrossing and keeps you guessing until the end. The characterisation is wonderful and it tackles the issues of domestic abuse and controlling relationships with such sensitivity. This multi layered masterpiece is enhanced by its narrator and totally draws you in.
Once I started this book I couldn’t stop listening.. and it deserves every award.
As the cold evenings are coming in and you are stuck at home .. this will get you through.

Great story
This is a great story very well narrated. However, all the Irish characters had Dublin accents, no matter what part of the country they came from... it distracted me and I kind of wish I had read it instead.

hooked on Inis Rún
I've spent the weekend in Louise O'Neill 's Inis Rún and I've been hooked the entire way through. Such dark and provoking themes presented through the most brilliantly developed characters.

Not your typical crime novel
Brilliant! This is a thought-provoking, feminist look at our fascination with true crime in the modern age while also fulfilling a traditional crime novel plot.
Fans of Louise O' Neill will not be disappointed with this change of direction. Her challenging writing and Irish influences make this.

Disappointing
I had high hopes for this as I have enjoyed Louise O'Neills previous books. The characters were unlikeable, the plot was thin and the narration was not good, very bad accents throughout

Great story, disappointing Irish pronunciation
Loved the story but was so surprised by all the pronunciation mistakes in the Irish phrases, it made it sound ridiculous especially when the narrator seemed to be Irish.

Captivating until the very end!
Louise has written a fantastic thriller but also highlighted so well how coercive control can occur so seamlessly The intertwining tales of the murder and the marriage keep you engaged until the very end. Beautifully narrated.

Maybe better to read than to listen to?
I really wanted to love this book. I am a fan of Louise O'Neill and I loved her earlier books. I felt this one dragged a little. I don't think it needed to be as long. A lot of it felt a little bit Oirish, maybe that was because of the narrator, her accents slipped a lot which was distracting. The writing is excellent but I just thought it took a long time to reach the conclusion and there was a lot of unnecessary padding out. But it's worth a credit for sure.

great story. Appalling narrator.
This was a great story, but I struggled to finish it due to the extremely annoying mispronunciations of the narrator. If you're going to have Irish words in your writing, please, for God's sake, make sure the narrator can pronounce them. She must be the only person unable to say 'múinteoir' in the whole of the country. She also has the most annoying habit of switching her 'v' and 'f' sounds. Painful.
