Summary
In Age of Myth, fantasy master Michael J. Sullivan launched listeners on an epic journey of magic and adventure, heroism and betrayal, love and loss. Now the thrilling saga continues as the human uprising is threatened by powerful enemies from without — and bitter rivalries from within.
Raithe, the God Killer, may have started the rebellion by killing a Fhrey, but long-standing enmities dividing the Rhunes make it all but impossible to unite against the common foe. And even if the clans can join forces, how will they defeat an enemy whose magical prowess renders them indistinguishable from gods?
The answer lies across the sea in a faraway land populated by a reclusive and dour race who feel nothing but disdain for both Fhrey and mankind. With time running out, Persephone leads the gifted young seer Suri, the Fhrey sorceress Arion, and a small band of misfits in a desperate search for aid — a quest that will take them into the darkest depths of Elan. There, an ancient adversary waits, as fearsome as it is deadly.

power of the whamen
Listen, I don't mind reading books with female protagonists, but make it at least believable, if not realistic (just like the first book where Persephone was awesome).I thought this is a book about war between humans and elves, and not how men are weak, cowards stupid and women are the bestests of the best. In this one book some background characters from the Age of Myth invented reading and writing, the wheel, metallurgy, a bow (lol) and yeah, ...a pocket.
This reads like a parody.

The femmeship of the ring
Some really good moments but largely let down by a lot of nonsense. the male characters are sidelined for this one. Which is fine because they're largely written as self serving, back stabbing, baby killing monsters anyway.
The ladies we're left with are interesting enough characters. unfortunately, The author seems to have let the women power angle run away from him a bit. characters running through thousands of years of human invention over a period of a few chapters. other characters inventing the written word for their species one minute and decoding ancient texts the next. characters with no fighting experience becoming expert warriors with weapons that have only just been invented and so on.
couple this with the heavily "borrowed" lord of the rings story and the, we saved the day with the power of love, trope and it all comes across a little amateur. which is a shame because you can tell from the better parts that that's not always the case.

unreasonable expectations for suspension of disbelief
not a lot really progresses in this book. Fine, I can live with that. Most of the characters are decent and the performances are good. My biggest issue thar I can't really get passed is people going from inventing a weapon to being a master of it able to hit a charging target in a high pressure situation in a matter of a few days. That coupled with discovering/inventing writing to being able to rediscover and interpret a lost language in the same couple of days.
If it had been a more reasonable time scale I'd have less issues with it
