Even if this is not yoir situation there is a large chance statistically thay you will need this type of setup at some point, even temporarily. This book thinks of it all and has all kinds of great points on how to make all spaces as useful and accessible as possible. Highly recommend!

Aging in Place, this audio came at the perfect time for myself at 62! There is so much involved and I need to think about, and this is has been a real eye opener for me. I want to build according to needs for the future instead of going to a home for the elderly and disabled, I prefer to be prepared! I have stairs at the present time, and they are already bothering me to go up and down, I would like everything on one level with easy access in order to take care of myself as long as possible. This audio has been greatly researched, written, and spoken! This is so easy to visualize and come up with a real list of musts! Everything is in this audio to consider, it is very easy to understand and follow! I will be listening to this again and again in order to get it all right! I greatly appreciate all of this author's wisdom! Thank You!

So glad I found this audiobook! My grandparents are transitioning from living on their own to building a home on family property in order to have more help in their final stages of life. We've had to address a lot of accessibility issues as well as multiple design hiccups to accommodate their needs. I love the concept of universal design that was presented in this audiobook - not something I had considered deeply before. Incorporating home automation was also not something we had considered until I listened to this book. They are stoked to break ground with these new designs in mind. We all feel confident they can easily "age in place" and still have some independence as we continue to engineer this new home.

I can't even tell you how grateful I am for this book. I think it's such an important topic. And the author has done a phenomenal job, and made a unique mark.

My wife and I want to build someday. We've dreamt of having our own little spot of land, for the kids to run around ... and we've been taking notes over the years when we get ideas about what we should include/etc. This audiobook helped us expand those notes. And I'm so thankful.

You usually don't think about this - how will I get around later in life, if I want to age here, and something were to happen to my mobility? My parents are actually going through this right now. They built a 3-story house, which is awesome, but now they'll either have to significantly modify it to stay there, or go somewhere else. They wish they didn't have to think about it, but here it is.

Not only does building an accessible house make it better for you later, but it increases resale value of a house, and well, it makes your home accessible to all! There are little considerations you can make like having a roll-in shower, minimum width for doors, lowering light switches for wheelchair access. And so on. Such good tips!

I can't imagine building a house now without using Universal Design (a new term that I learned due to this book). Thank you to the author for taking the time to write this!
