Summary
‘Gripping...I couldn’t put it down!’—bestselling author Katie Fforde
In this captivating story from the bestselling author of Picking up the Pieces, Daisy has always envied the perfect family next door. But will a weekend of unexpected drama prove that the grass isn’t always greener?
Daisy Harrop has always felt like she exists in the background, and since her mother stopped getting out of bed, her life has come to a complete standstill. Daisy would give anything to leave the shabbiest house on the street and be more like the golden Kelleways next door, with their perfectly raked driveway and flourishing rose garden…
Winnie Kelleway is proud of the beautiful family she’s built. They’ve had their ups and downs—hasn’t everyone? But this weekend, celebrating her golden wedding anniversary is truly proof of their happiness, a joyful gathering for all the neighbours to see.
But as the festivities get underway, are the cracks in the ‘perfect’ Kelleway life beginning to show? As one bombshell revelation leads to another and events start to spiral out of control, Daisy and Winnie are about to discover that things aren’t always what they seem.

Hidden truths and lies
This was a brilliant story of people and families and how emotions and desires can cause us to tread dangerous paths The emotions that emanate from this story are overwhelming and will remind almost everyone who reads this book of something they've done or wanted to do in there lives that has or could have hurt others around them. You should read or listen to this book to remember or imagine those moments and live those experiences.

Captivating
I don’t think I’ve ever read a book before that had me so invested in every single character within. It was both gripping but also strangely soothing.
It’s a sobering reminder that we never know what’s beneath the surface, even when it comes down to those we love the most.
I truly hope there’ll be a sequel.
The authors narration is also fantastic, I’ve never been one to fall asleep whilst listening to audiobooks but her voice is so calming, I found myself so relaxed, I nodded off a few times.

Family Drama
I absolutely loved this story and the woven complex links between the characters. I especially liked, the POV narratives from each character and how their histories were woven together and each characters perception of current events, past history etc, very clever and thought provoking story telling.

Nice and normal but….
Overall it was a nice story but I felt that the book ended abruptly almost as if the author was bored with the story and I was surprised that nothing was explained.
So for me, it was a disappointing listen.

All good things
A lovely story of family that is almost fractured by people wanting too much. I’d love to know how Lou and wife finish up
