About this listen
Deputy US Marshal Miro Jones has a reputation for being calm and collected under fire. These traits serve him well with his hotshot partner, Ian Doyle, the kind of guy who can start a fight in an empty room. In the past three years of their life-and-death job, they've gone from strangers to professional coworkers to devoted teammates and best friends. Miro’s cultivated blind faith in the man who has his back…faith and something more.
As a marshal and a soldier, Ian’s expected to lead. But the power and control that brings Ian success and fulfillment in the field isn't working anywhere else. Ian’s always resisted all kinds of tied down, but having no home - and no one to come home to - is slowly eating him up inside. Over time, Ian has grudgingly accepted that going anywhere without his partner simply doesn't work. Now Miro just has to convince him that getting tangled up in heartstrings isn't being tied down at all.

Full On
Well narrated action thriller. Law enforcement procedural drama with all the action you'd expect from this author. Well planned, good MCs with a good pace; the 9hrs is over fast and furious and tied with a beau.
ENTERTAINING

Great romance, solid story, great narration
This is my second Mary Calmes (audio)book and I like this one very, very much. ‘Frog’ was alright, but the way that the MC was instantly loved and doted on by everybody became grating. Reading reviews of other books by Mary Calmes it seems this is a recurring theme in her work. In this one I feel it didn’t happen too much, though Miro has 4 close female friends who adore him and an ex-lover who tries to wriggle his way back into his life.
There was a part in the middle of the book, when Ian is away on a mission, that felt like it dragged on too long without anything happening on the romance front. I was so looking forward to Ian and Miro interacting again. But when they do meet again... okay, worth the wait... I adore the way Ian is with Miro when their feelings finally become obvious. And Miro when he discovers what everybody had been thinking about them all along. I also really liked the way Miro and Ian interact with the two young witnesses they have to guard in the last part of the book. I’m not going into details to prevent spoilers.
The marshall work is described really well, but my favourite parts are where Miro and Ian interact, and with their colleagues as well.
I really like Tristan James’ narration. He distinguishes between male characters only subtly, but it’s okay, and I *love* his intonation, really one of the best narrators in that respect. This is my first audio with him and I don’t know how he does other books/characters, but I think he is spot on with Ian and Miro and their interaction. I am going to check out other books he narrates.

A little unfocused
The narration was very good and the story started well, however, I felt as though the storyline was very unfocused

**AUDIO REVIEW**
I enjoyed this book, and the narrator was great BUT the blurb is a little misleading.
The entire book is from Miro's point of view. Nothing from Ian, AT ALL, and the blurb suggests there would be. And I wanted there to be, because Ian was a character who needed to have his say.
