I've read other Jane Costello books and usually enjoyed them, but the whole premise of this book annoyed me from the beginning and the main character just struck me as desperate and whiny. Get over it and move on, would you own want your partner to come back if you whinged and niggled and persuaded them? That's hardly the basis for a good relationship. Yes, yes, this is fiction, but even so, that's like justifying every shallow-female-trope in literature.

The second half of the book where she gets her act together is a bit more tolerable. The performance was good, a nice range of voices, I'm not from Liverpool so cannot vouch for the accuracy of the accent, but it was fine by me! Overall, I suppose I would recommend the book, if only as a way in to a (usually) good writer, but wait until it comes up on Sale or a Daily Deal, don't pay full price or a whole credit on it!

this book has nothing new, and is as predictable as they get. but novelty and cleverness are not the reason you open books like these. delivering exactly what was expected is the joy.

light, bright and jolly

The book was good fun, and the narration was excellent. I hate when books reference a characters accent and yet it's performed in queens english by the narrator. This is a gem though, with that wonderful liverpudlian accent, distinct characters that are easy to tell apart and comedic moments that are delivered with gusto. Would definitely recommend.

Definitely! We've all been through the heartache of a break up and don't we all surprise ourselves by coming out the other end!?

however by the end I was commited to the story and was saying out loud "PICK BEN FOR GOD SAKE PICK BEN " obviously I won't say whether she did or not :)
