Summary

‘Delightfully romantic and touching.’ Phillipa Ashley on Sunrise at Butterfly Cove

She wasn’t looking for love…

When Lucie Kennington flees the bright lights of London for the quiet Derbyshire countryside, she’s shocked to discover that the heir to the Bluebell Castle estate is far from the wizened employer she expected.

In fact, Arthur Ludworth might just be the most handsome man Lucie’s ever laid eyes on – and a terrible distraction! So when she stumbles across a legendary painting feared lost for centuries, she can’t believe her luck – perhaps this is the hidden treasure to save Arthur and his family from ruin?

But it’s only a matter of time before Lucie’s past catches up with her and by then it’s too late, she’s falling for him…

Perfect for fans of Trisha Ashley, Rachael Lucas and Hilary Boyd.

*Running from the Past*

This was a wonderful easy read, just what I needed. We meet Lucie Kennington, a shy, sweet young woman who is running from a past which is not of her making.

Her specialty is Art and she works in a prestigious London auction valuing pieces. Something happens and she is suspended and marched off the premises.

She decides to leave London behind and takes a job at Bluebell castle a place that has its own secrets. When she arrives she expects to meet a man in his latter years. Instead she meets the rather devastatingly handsome owner, Arthur Ludworth.
The castle is down to skeleton staff due to the finances that Arthur’s late father left them with. Lucie’s job is to help them to find a way to save the castle and see if there is anything in their collection to help their dwindling funds.

Lucie makes a find but is also in danger of losing her heart, the trouble is her past she kept putting off divulging is about to get in the way….

Great read

I really love Bennett’s writing style. It’s drawing you in, and the characters really come to life. At the end you just wish you could actually visit Bluebell Castle...

Such a lovely story. If you want ab easy listen this is the book for you. A little predictable and the end seemed a little rushed but nevertheless I still really enjoyed it.

Nothing special

This book was rather predictable ( not that is necessarily a bad thing) the story was ok if not somewhat unbelievable and the narrator rather made the book duller than it actually was.
I still managed to listen without wanting to give up, But I won’t be spending money on the next one.

Disappointing

Predictable and poorly crafted . This was a bit like reading a grown-up comic with sign posts throughout and thin 2 dimensional characters. The female lead needed a lesson in equality and back bone and her romantic counterpart was obviously not aware which century he was living in - talk about a Victorian bully! Unfortunately, the narrator was lacking in variety of tone and mispronounced some fairly common terms.
Overall, disappointing and poor quality.
