About this listen

'A gorgeous story packed with love, romance and heartfelt emotion. Will bring sunshine into your day!' Phillipa Ashley

Laurie Morgan runs a café in the small seaside community of Mermaids Point, named after the beauties rumoured to live in the waters a few miles off the top of the point.

When a hazy image is posted online of what appears to be a mermaid, the café and the village are soon full to bursting with curious sightseers.

The most eye-catching of the new arrivals is handsome author, Jake Smith, who has rented a cottage for the summer while he works on his new book. Or so he says. In fact, he is a journalist, burned out and disillusioned with life, whose editor has sent him on a crack-pot hunt for mermaids...

Jake quickly finds himself drawn to village life, and to the gorgeous woman who runs the local café. But he soon suspects there’s trouble lurking beneath the idyllic façade, and when it looks like Laurie’s family might be involved, Jake faces a difficult choice. Pursue the truth, or protect the woman he’s beginning to fall in love with…

**Warm, escapist, feel-good and altogether brilliant story-telling from bestselling author Sarah Bennett. Perfect for all fans of Trisha Ashley and Milly Johnson. **

I really enjoyed this book however I was not convinced that his deception was as dramatic as it was made out to be and I found the end a little rushed. Saying that though, I am looking forward to the next in the series

A good book to have in as background listening whilst doing housework. Sometimes it’s lovely to have a book that requires little brainpower.

I enjoyed it, it was lovely. The story is set in a cute little English seaside town with mentiones of English bakery goods. I was sold on that.

I found the book boring. There is nothing really happening there. I have read reviews and I cannot believe that so many people found very good.

Not for me

Really enjoyed the simple nature of this story. I found the narrator's style a tad fast and disinterested at times at the beginning but quickly warmed to her style.
In parts the story felt a little rushed along but it was a very pleasant listen.

Not my normal sugary sweet story but a mind cleanser after a deeper novel
Reading reviews about narrator I find some comments unfair her voice did not irritate or grate on your ears as I’ve heard from other narrators. She could only read what was written sadly the story disappeared into nowhere
Will I read anymore by this author probably not

Easy listening sugary sweet

A lovely romance story of two people who fall in love in a small costal village, Jake an investigative reporter and Laurali a owner of a small cafe. Their story is sweet and it’s told we’ll. it’s a lovely relaxing story.

Lovely romantic story
