About this listen

Half a million dollars will be Celeste Thorne’s reward for spending four years of her life in total isolation. No faces. No voices. No way to leave.

Since Celeste has never really worried about being alone, the generous paycheck she’ll receive for her participation in the solitary psychological experiment seems like easy money.

When she finds an injured hiker in the woods bordering her living compound, her strictly governed world is thrown into disarray. But even as she struggles with the morality of breaking the rules of the experiment, Celeste can’t deny her growing attraction to the kind and enigmatic Olivia Soldano. Still, how much can you really trust a stranger? And how much can you trust yourself when you know all the faces you’ve seen and voices you’ve heard for the past three years have only been your imagination?

But what’s real? Celeste’s reality may lie somewhere between the absolute truth and a carefully constructed deception.

wish it Longer

It's a very interesting
Plot! Character development in some places were great I feel like There was weird sort of awkwardness Coming to the end of the story Which makes sense, but at the same time ew..ok XD And I Would have loved to learn more about individual backstories and also like after Yeah, they all sit down with family at dinner and the kids that would have been adorable. But apart from that it was, it is a good

A wonderful story

Very easy to listen to. The storyline is very interesting and something different to the usual girl loves girl ideas. Couldn't wait for my next chance to listen to this audio book. Another great title from e. J noyes and well read

Alone

I decided to listen to this because of the majority of reviews said how wonderful it was. For at least the first two chapters I thought I’d made a mistake, but whether reading or listening I don’t like to give up on something I’ve started. I’m so glad I persevered.
It’s nothing like anything else I’ve listened to before. If you like angst you’re going to love this. The whole concept is so different that it took me a while to see where things were going. I think if it wasn’t for Abby Craden’s narration I might not have enjoyed it as much as I did. I actively seek her work out now.
Give it a go, I promise you it’s worth it.

Astonishing

I can’t even begin to describe this book. The depth, the dialogue, the love, the hurt - I’ll have a hard time recovering, A must read! Abby Craden once again proofs she’s the narrator queen!

Definitely the book of the year.

Wow, I was desperate to skip to the end, but didn’t want to finish the journey.

Quite good

Pretty fun concept to the story and entertaining during these times of quarantine. Good narrator performance. Towards the middle/end I found it a struggle to stay interested in the main character, who whines a lot and I found her emotional journey predictable and ultimately a bit irritating. Quite a few sex scenes which I'm not complaining about.

Gripping stuff

Bit baffled by the negative reviews of this story its a contemporary romance, read the synopsis? If you have a shark phobia don't read "Jaws" Although Mary Whitehouse and Lord Longford did watch more porn in the day just to be outraged.

Good story by E.J.Noyes and as ever a great performance by Abby Craden.

Surreal setting for this romance very Philip K Dick. I liked the characters and the back stories. Also a good ending.

Recommend for fans of the genre and it's not a requirement to be lesbian or gay to enjoy a good story.

This book is GREAT. Take other reviews with a pinch of salt

I have a theory that some of the other reviewers weren’t looking for this, erm.. “type” of book, hence the negative reviews…

The premise is solid and the main character in particular is really well developed. And yep there are some quite steamy scenes. Great story. I was so hooked I finished it in a single day. Favourite EJ Noyes book.

Gripping listen.

First things first: in the past I’ve not really been a fan of Abby Craden as a narrator (her voice often seems hard to my English ears), so when I realised she narrated Alone my heart sank. However, I bit the bullet as I loved the written version and felt the audio version could be good.
I’m so glad I went with my gut feeling! It’s an absolutely cracking story and Abby Craden does a superb job with the different characters’ voices.
I’ve just finished my third time of listening and I can’t fault it - the story or the narration.
